It freaked me out when I discovered my favorite musician and my favorite film makers (the Coen brothers) where from the same city. I should visit there one day! Imagine Purple Rain in the setting of Fargo, phew! (am I going off topic here? They say "ya" all the time in Fargo)

I'm sorry, but you guys don't even know what you're talking about, not everyone from Minnesota has an "accent" I was born and raised there, just moved to CA about 5 years ago. I am 31 and Prince speaks just the way I do an there is no accent, I just grew up like 2hrs south of him so there!!!

I never said everyone from MN has an accent, but many people do.

i'm from iowa and the locals here in mpls tell me that i have an accent...lol

one of my friends was in the car when I was listening to a rehearsal, and he asked, "who's that talking, it sounds like paul schaffer"...

it sounds vaguely like the Fargo accent on certain words.

Its also apparent on some words during his "name back to prince" press conference...

In Caos & Disorder, his Accent comes out as he plays a "cop" we always play that little part over and over

Hmmm, I always thought that little "accent" that Prince uses when he plays the cop was done purposely just to make it humorous. shrug But I could be wrong. smile

As a side note, I've noticed that people in Wisconsin seem to have accents similar to those of people living in Minnesota. Has anybody else noticed this? I guess it would make sense, since they are neighboring states. smile

The accents of Wisconsin and Minnesota are close, but definitely different. My wife is from Wisconsin, I'm from Minnesota.

Outstate accents are thicker, "Fargo" style.
