What's this live version of 'Love Bizarre' i've got? it's an MP3 about 10.45 long. has Prince shouting "I feel like i've been born again!" on it. there are also references to 'Oaktree' on it. "Chop!" "Chop AGAIN!" "AGAIN!" etc.
It's fantastic! Where's it from?

I think it is from the Sheila E "Romance 1600" video.
Prince & The Revolution come on at the end of the show and do "A Love Bizarre" with all the "Oak Tree"/Morris Day piss-takes. A great video if you can get hold of it. Try those second hand stores... But now you have me thinking "I wish this was on DVD!" -----------------------------------------------

It's a great show. Very tight. There's a Sheila E. CD bootleg of this video that was released a few years ago. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Definitely sounds like it comes from the Romance 1600 Live video.
I bought it from Ebay (UK) about 5 weeks ago (PAL copy). It's GREAT!! [This message was edited Sun Oct 19 14:44:18 PDT 2003 by 1p1p1i3]

The video got a UK release in 87, and a re-release in 90 or 91. If you can, track it down. The whole show is great. .

I got it on Video when they played it on MTV (no commercials). I remember my mom recorded cuz she was at the show...I was supposed to go. I was only 6, & pops said moms couldn't take me to Prince (it was to wild) but Sheila was cool with him. Anyway, I declined-holding out for Prince in protest. My mom told me the morning after that he came out...I cried for about 2 hours. That was my introduction to the painful life of being a Prince fan. Hurt feet, waiting, complaining, & never saying "oh he won't play..."
Nero p.s. I don't think on The Warfield romance 1600 show he says "I feel like I was born again.." or whatever. He did that woodleg/Oaktree bit on quite a few shows.

from the Sheila E "Romance 1600" video ...
that's a really great performance!!! It's on Birthday Parade as a bonus-track (the audio) This video is the most cool live song from the Parade-era Never seen Prince enjoying himself that much we'll make wooden legs out of it!! I feel a little sad for Sheila E ... it's her concert, but she's directed to the back of the stage ...

I've seen this on sale in the shops in the UK.
I also have an NTSC version for sale, if anyone's interested.

It sounds as if it's from the March 8, 1986 guest appearance at The Warfield, San Francisco, as others have suggested.
You suggest he says, 'I feel like I've been born again' - it's possibly - 'I feel like I wanna dance' if it's the Warfield show. You also say that the track is about 10-11 minutes long, which sounds like it has been ripped from the Shiela video. That video performance is edited, and the original audio circulating clocks in a little longer with additional references to 'All Day, All Night' and 'Holly Rock' sung by Prince, which are probably missing from the mp3 you have. Two easy ways of identifying the Warfield track: 1. He calls for the band to stop and then announces, 'I ain't got no business here, she just wrecked the stage', referring to Shiela's performance that night. 2. After he has chopped the tree, and leads the line (Shiela, Wally, Greg and Jerome) doing 'The Wooden Leg' dance, you should be able to hear him say 'Frisco, are you with me?' before he leads a 'Hey, Hey' call and response chant. . Maybe ... the Sheila E concert is one of the opening acts for Prince ... and A Love Bizarre is from the actual Prince concert??? I can't believe that Prince did this in a Sheila E show

I was looking at an old video collection of prince na associates I found in a box and the tape has that Sheila show on it!!That was a cool show with great sound!!Prince looked great and was so confident!!
Also, one of the videos on my tape is Mazarati's "player;s Ball"!I really like that song. Those guys were freaky scary looking!!So funny to see so many people dressed like Prince! Was Tommy Barbarella the keyboard player? Also, looked like a guy from Poison in that band.Probably not.I guess it's true that all Blacks do look alike.
