A Few Thoughts On The New Aladdin Las Vegas DVD I just watched the Las Vegas DVD for the first time and it is a great item to have. I was surprised at how relaxed and happy Prince was. He's smiling through out... It was great to see him like that again. It reminded me of the Prince I have known for all these years. Confident, cool, calm, workin the band and just vibin the music. I had seen Rave 2000 DVD a few months ago and was worried. But The New DVD Prince Live At The Aladdin Las Vegas... is really worth having! It's a great archive of Prince in his career here in the early 2000's. If any of y'all are still waitin to buy it. Just get it. It's worth it. I would have got it earlier if I'd known It was as nice as it is. Very pleased to have him back to being himself again...
I ordered it from: http://www.npgmusicclub.com/ It arrived like in two days... vegas edit.... [This message was edited Sun Oct 19 18:40:08 PDT 2003 by july]

Hey, I bought it and watched it for the first time yesterday! It was so nice I cried. So I went and bought the Rave DVD too and watched that, and also cried with joy for about the first 6 songs, (and then suddenly things took a turn for the worse - due to the overbearing gentleman in the white hat).
I just know I am going to cry when I see P tomorrow and the next night(!!!) I will be so embarassed! I hope these shows will also be of this same relaxed mood.

The Vegas DVD is a big lump of shit. There are better quality bootlegs of better shows. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I think you are wrong... Bootlegs... Thread ain't about bootlegs... It's about Prince feeling good on stage...

So what if it was filmed with a little handicam, better than nothing. It's done it's job and got us all psyched up around here anyhow, ready for the real thing.

I'm also giving an opinion on said disc. I love Prince music to death, I only feel that the quality of the Vegas show/video is attrocious. <--- Vegas DVD If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Sound/picture aside, what did you think of this show squirrelgrease? You have seen many different ones and can make a sound jundgement, (I have seen less than I can count on one hand).

I felt that the show was predictable and boring. It wasn't a good representation of what the ONA shows were like. Prince did the ONA set on two nights at the Celebration, and they were out of this world. I have other ONA shows on audio that are a pleasure to listen to, even though they are sourced from an audience member. You have probably seen the actual set-list from the Vegas show. Prince put his editors into overtime before putting out this disc. The Purple Perpetrator could have given us the World. He gave us Wisconsin instead. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

By the way, Char, I hope that you have tix and can see the show while he's down under.
Oh, and I love the Buddy Christ avatar... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I don't think the filming is that bad at all. It's Prince's attitude that makes it a great keepsake... Have fun at the concert!

The concert is great... very energetic and fun.
Shame that he butchered the setlist.

It does capture Prince's on stage persona and attitude. That in itself makes it a worth while disc... The rest is would, could, should, this or that. It is a good thing it was released... Whatever the case... It's brilliant for what it is. It's worth having. Just for the fun of watching Prince having a good time... on stage...

I really like it dont have any problems with the quality,I think the performaces are very good , there are some funny moments and the guitar work is fantastic especially on the ride ,I always felt the rave dvd was a bit clean and this aint so it suits me fine.

the only reason i aven keep the damn thing is because it has one of my favorite orgers (: on it.
the filming is for shite, the set list is so heavily edited with all the really fun stuff removed, and the sound quality is sub-par. the show itself... not bad, but hardly one of the best P concerts i have seen, not by a long shot. U seem to be one of those fans that have seen too many shows, has too many bootlegs etc. In other words u have immersed yourself so deeply in the purple world that u have a hard time finding satisfaction anymore. Every song, every album, and every dvd are not going to be the greatest triumph of his career. As a matter of fact with each song, album, video etc. it becomes even harder to top himself because u have so much to compare it too. Man just cut him some slack (and yourself too). It will all be over someday, enjoy it least a little bit. Peace.

either that, or squirrelgrease just may be one of those who've been a fan since the beginning and is startin to become sorta burnt-out a bit. it happens, y'know. it don't mean one is a pessimist for that.
