how many other artists would offer fans a 7 cd set of unreleased material?
ok, so some fans may have some of these songs but only from bootlegs and mp3 downloads.
1st and 2nd year npgmc members may also have these but hey, who's asking them to buy this set.
at the end of the day lets appreciate an artist who is prepared to give his fans much more music than most other artists could ever dream of.

A lot of curent artist havn't release 7 albums (full-stop).

Well, if you think about it-any other artist could release 7cd's worth of music. But they wouldn't give you 7 old cd's, and if they did it would be a greatest hits package.

Most record companies would probably not agree on 7cd package of old material to be sold like new stuff nor would the fans be stupid enough to purchase it.

Only Prince fans.

I think its ridiculous the extent that we in the Prince community go to say we don't collect, buy or trade unreleased music. When we know very well that 99.9% of us do and just don't admit it .

To not be able to talk about it, because of fear of reprisal from Prince. Is also absurd.

The thing that annoys me about these people that are defending this 7 CD set is when they say 'unreleased music' - IT'S NOT UNRELEASED!! HE RELEASED IT DURING THE LAST TWO FRIKKIN' YEARS!!

On a side note I don't mind he'd doing it! I'm looking forward to having an offical copy!

You are absolutely right. Music "by nature" will never be controlled. But you're talking about Prince here not the common dude on the corner playing acoustic guitar for donations. The funny thing about the music business is that it's a business, go figure. There's always money to be made somehow. You want free music? There's plenty of it in church. Birds are probably singing their asses off outside your window right now. Go soak it up. Everyone is in it for the money. So music within the industry will always be controlled by someone. In the case of Prince it's in his control. So if he says I'm going to release Roadhouse Garden tomorrow and doesn't, the average person with common sense will not lose sleep over it.



Well, the difference between you and me is that I don't offer blind support to just any artist. If you've been a Prince fan long enough, then you know to expect the unexpected. It's just one of those things where you can either sit down, shut up and enjoy the ride or get off the bus. These days with Prince you are pretty much guaranteed a preview of anything he releases. The choice is in your hands.



If you can't make a conscious decision based upon the knowledge you have of the material, yet place all the blame on the artist then you obviously are the one who is brain-washed




Unfortunately, I am not one of those people. If Prince ever asked I'd be the first to tell I'm I've got a shit-load of unreleased stuff. And I'd even have the gall to ask him personally for more. The people who are lying to themselves are the people who are "so fed up with Prince's bullshit" then come right back for another helping when he announces something new. But I guess I can't knock it, I mean some folks are just really into that self-torture kinky shit.
