Prince & Universal Publishing

I have noticed that alot of Prince's music has W B Music Corp % Warner Bros INC. But the older stuff has Warner Bros and Controversy Music % Universal Music Publishing Group. My question is, has it always been this way or is this another sign that Prince has redone all his older stuff and will be releasing this soon?

It is not a sign that he has redone any of his stuff. It simply indicates that the deal he signed a few years back with Universal for collection of publishing monies on his behalf still prevails. This will apply even on recordings where the masters are presently owned by Warner Brothers.

Here's basically how publishing works and why an artist hires a company to collect the money so they can get on doing the things they would like to do, like write, record and perform more songs.
