The Chocolate Invasion - Stop your bitching

Ok people. I’m sick and tired of this so I’m going to nip this in the butt before we have any more of it.

For the past 3 years there has been bitching and moaning about everything Prince has done.

NPGMC01 - What about people who don’t have computers. Why should we pay $100 when CDs cost $20.

Rave IN2 : Same old shit remixed

Rainbow children - What’s with all this religious stuff, the first 10 tracks suck.

NPGMC02 - I’ve just received one CD and now I want them all

One nite alone - I want a funky album with a full band, it’s too short.

ONA live - I don’t want a live album with any overdubs (btw there were hardly any)

Xpectation - I want my Prince albums on CD with nice covers, not CD-Rs in MP3 quality

NPGMC03 - Why haven’t we been promised any music, I’m not paying a $25 donation

NEWS - Why doesn’t Prince sing songs, what’s with all these instrumentals.

ONA DVD - It doesn’t have X Y and Z on it.

When will U surrender your Xpectations and appreciate things for what they are.

NPGMC01 - A music club that provides you with great new music, videos and radio on a monthly bases.

Rave IN2 : A much better version of the original album with funky music, beautiful arrangements, instruments and sound effects and vocal abilities. + Longer versions of our favourite Rave songs (And if U didn’t want to buy it, U could get it sent to you for free at NPGMC)

Rainbow children - One of Princes greatest ever albums. Beautiful and passionate.

NPGMC02 - Get into the after party at ONA gigs and VIP front tickets.

One nite alone - A beautiful tranquil masterpiece

ONA live - 3 Cds of fantastic live music featuring other great artists.

Xpectation - 9 original instrumentals with a jazzy chill out new age feel.

NPGMC03 - Showing support for a man who supported you with great music for the last 30 years of your life in his own virtual garden of Eden. Our new home

NEWS - A monumental work completed in a day. A display of great talent. (And only £10)

ONA DVD - 80 minutes of great material that didn’t fit on the ONA CD. So U can watch and relive your time at the concert in our own home + “Ozzy Oz Burn” was worth the £12 alone.

Anyway, now U want to have a bash at ‘The Chocolate Invasion’. A CD set that no one is making you buy, you have the choice whether to buy it or not. Most of this complaining seems to be from the people who were fortunate enough to be members of NPGMC 1 and 2. People who already have this music. Why are they complaining? The most common answer seems to be because they have been there and done that. If Prince re-released Purple rain why the hell should I complain. I’m not going to buy it but I wouldn’t kick up a big fuss because it’s not Rebirth of the flesh, In a large room with no lights, Moonbeam levels and God is alive. It just is what it is.

I didn’t have a PC while NPGMC 1 + 2 were around. Legally the only CD from this set I should have is The War which is hard enough to get as it is.

I along with several other fans missed out on the first to discs which should include tracks from NPGMC1 which I think the majority of are masterpieces which are better than most of Princes material from the 90s (Which is great stuff) and certainly rivals the quality of his 80s hits (And we all know that there the best tracks ever from any artist)

Then for those who also missed out on NPGMC2 there are 3 Cds, one of which include Empty room. My favourite version of my favourite song.

And being really picky here, my Dad was asleep in my room while the lam slam party was on.

For people in my situation (And I know a lot of fans personally who are) this set is the most exciting release since the hits / the b-sides. So there is a demand for this package, and if your not demanding it please shut up and let us enjoy the moment.

Cheers. Peace and be wild.

In that same spirit, noone is forcing you to read people's complaints about the set.

And arent people who were members of year 1 and 2 entitled to an opinion?

NPGMC has been hinting at a mammoth CD set in some form or another for the past few years. First it was the Samples CD set which never saw the light of day, then last year it was a huge live 7 disc set which never saw the light of day either. Now that a 7 disc set is seemingly coming for real this time, its nothing more than a rehash from the past 2 years.

He's spent decades touting this huge vault of music he has but could never release because of the big bad record companies. Now he has all the freedom in the world, and he chooses to rehash and repackage material from 2 years ago.

Why such a big release only to cater to a handful of people? The Prince fanbase is relatively small these days, and even smaller are the number of those fans who didnt already participate in year 1 and or 2.

Its no suprise at all that some people arent excited about this set.

True. Sorry. I guess all this negativity was spoiling something I'm otherwise enjoying.

It's a shame that sampling series didn't come out. I'd of loved that to.

I can't wait to get my hands on The Chocolate Invasion. I'm guessing early December at best if ordering starts by the end of October. Whenever I order from NPGMC it always takes 6 weeks. Its a fact I've grown used to. I'm not complaining.

I was fine with whole thread until I saw this. lol. HAve u actually heard it? lol if ure callin 30 seconds a "longer" version.. that was the most pointless thing about that entire album!

The mistake stems from the rave song, instead of givin us a decent longer version (which exists) he gave us the crappiest vesion he could make.

I agree that the unreleased Rave Un2 was better than the 2 released ones, and again I agree 'Rave In2' isn't my cup of tea either (I useally start it from track 2. But as an album I love it.

Undisputed (MPLS Mix) - Outstanding, I can't describe it because it's so different to anything that's ever been done before. Amazing cut.

The greatest romance - I've got several versions of this and this is by far the longest and eeps all the great elements from the original album version.

Hot wit U (Nasty girl mix) - THE BOMB

Tangerine - So far so pleased - sun, moon + stars = Kinda cute songs. Not great but as a movment they are all nice.

Man 'O' War (Remix) - EXERLENT. This is the sort of song I want to here on the radio and in clubs. Amazing concidering I didn't think much of the previous version. I love the way this sounds. Prince's vocals on this are to die for. "Cos it still smells like the last time that we..." and then that amazing sound. Chiller Killer.

Baby knows - I really liked this song on the last album. I first heard this at a Prince party so the extra part was a very pleasent surprise.

Beautiful strange - I didn't like this at first but then one day I heard myself singing it so I put it on again. It's really grown on me.

Pretty man - See Baby knows (Also at the same party)

well, this is a message board, so peeps will continue to post their messages. the club has not been successful in the minds of many and it has been successful in the minds of others. this is the site for them to talk about it with other fans. i agree that in some instances prince can't do anything right, i would seem, but then in other instances he can do no wrong. it all depends on whose post you're reading.

my advice...dig if you will and don't if you won't.

i am trying 2 xplain why every1's bitching over this chocolate box.

1. the people who already have the material thought when they bought them , they were buying xclusive npg music ! now its been literally re-issued.

so they r right 2 complain !

2. the people who werent members back then are getting the chance 2 own this material as well now !, so they are up 4 it.

so they r right 2 be happy !

its the old saying u cant keep all the people happy all the time !!! not on the org thats 4 sure.

And thats what they are - complainers.
When NPGMC Year 1 started they mentioned in the future there would be compilation cds. Now where do you think the music to make this compilation was coming from? I waited to join the NPGMC until the end of year one because I wanted to wait & see if the compilation cds came out at the end of year one. They didn't & I joined to get the songs. I wasn't willing to wait & see if the compilation cds were ever released. I paid $100 for the exclusive right to hear this music prior to its release. NPGMC said exclusive not eternally exclusive forever & ever. It was exclusive for awhile but now it won't be. Are you that selfish that you want this music for yourself & want no one else to hear it except your private little group? Are you that desperate to feel like you are special? Using this exclusive complaint makes you look like a baby.
Now to me a more legitimate complaint is selling the cds as a box set when some of us already have some of the cds included in the box set. But if a box set will keep the overall price down then I can live with that. I don't need a second copy of The War or a third copy of ONA & I can't imagine any of my friends wanting a copy but will it kill me to have extra copies? No. Am I happy about the other 5 cds in the box set? Yes.

At the end of the day, I think what most of us are so disheartened about is the fact that for ages he was harping on about being enslaved as an artist, and about not being able to release the large quantity of music he was churning out... but since his move from Warner we've only actually had three proper studio albums from the guy (live albums, special editions and NPG specials don't count).

At Warner he was steadily releasing an album a year. Independently, it's averaging out at about one every three years.

I have no objections if the guy wants to slow down a little... hell, the music he's given me is already so much. But I object to him making promises to us and not fulfilling them.

I remember when Prince reported that he only had about 500 songs in the infamous vault back in '86 during an interview with the "Electrifying Mojo". About five years ago he reported that he had 1000. There's no telling what's in their now. If only 20 out of the 1000 saw the light of day in '98. Why the fuck are some people still holding their breath for it. If Prince promised to free the music, the premise remains that it will be freed when he's good and damn ready. I wish you mofos would stop acting like somebody owes you shit.

Can I apologise for having alternative opinion. Me and many others here. We are sorry.

I made the mistake of thinking the org was about uncensored opinion.

But you are right, we should make it like NPGMC. No opinions allowed, unless they agree with yours.

Again you are right. opinion=bitching. We bow to your wisdom...

I'm a hardcore naysayer, and while I disagree with a lot of this post (NEWS is a monumental work?)...I don't understand the bitching about TCI...

I will definitely buy it, if for no other reason than CD quality. Plus there will be some material on there I still don't have...and I'm a completist. This is not something you're getting as part of a membership...it's an "optional" purchase...just like NEWS.

7 CD's of anything is pretty damn impressive...even if some of us may have most of it. If the sound quality is just a little better, I'm all over it.

However...once the tracklist hits, expect us naysayers to be back in full force!

Peace.

hi, please read all of my post !, not just half of it!, i dont fit in2 categories 1. or 2. of the post , i was just pointing out the reasons why folks were bitching !

the point again was "u cant please all the peeps , all the time ! ie; it doesnt matter what is released (u will have complainers and u will have happy peeps ) its human f**kin nature .

I AM NOT COMPLAINING , JUST POINTING OUT WHY SO MANY R !
