Mountains is one of the most AWESOME songs!!! Love will conquer if you just beleive.
It's only Mountains and the Sea. There's nothing greater...you and me. How beautiful. 2 of the most powerful and greatest aspects of this planet, the Mountains and the Sea. And even that isn't greater than the love shared between 2 people. The music is just so light and vibrant and sincere. I LOVE THIS SONG TO DEATH!!! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

i've always loved this song. it is an example of prince using biblical themes at his best. my favorite tracks of his are the ones that stem from his spiritual beliefs...they always seem to be the strongest tunes!

Mountains is the fucking shit.
It's one of the songs I use when pointing out how fantastic the Revolution, and the partnership of Wendy-Lisa-Prince was. There's a whole thing about Wendy & Lisa's importance being overstated - which it is - but the majority of Prince fans would agree that 1985/6 was Prince's most expansive, creative, individual and interesting period - and Wendy & Lisa were an influence there. Without them, and Eric, Susannah, Sheila, we wouldn't have gotten so much fantastic stuff. I think that's why people are so hungry for out-takes and unreleased music from that period, because what we've heard has all been magical (All My Dreams, The Flesh, The Dream Factory). Mountains was right there in the thick of it - funky, and different. Both "black" and "white". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm a sucker for a major chord

I didn't want to spark an uproar by bringing Wendy & Lisa into this, but this song (and another of my all time faves "Large room with No Light") displays perfectly the positive influence they had in the creative process and the output of that era. They helped Prince find a switch inside and once he turned it on there was no stopping the tide of amazingness that followed... amazingness edit.... it is mainly a Wendy/Lisa track, they used to play it live in their own concerts too.
Hel, it's 17 years that Prince omits it from the live tracklist, time to bring it back! Agree? cheers

Mountains was the first single I ever bought as a fan, and when I heard the extended version I couldn't believe my ears! I must have played it 100 times that week. I remember having to buy another copy as my first one became worn out!

Man, me too. I love this song. It is one of my favourite Prince tracks. I have heard it so many times and I am not tired of it. It has a rebirth of its own. It is also of course, very close to my own experiences... 'Love will, conquer, if you, just believe'. Believing can take time. I will get there.
