I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star live video clip

In the live footage we saw here in Australia during previous RAGE specials, who is singing such out of tune backing vocals (female)? It is truly horrible, and I have always wanted to know. I hope to God it is not Lisa or Wendy.

I can't imagine it being just them because check out the Parade tour when it's them by themselves and they don't sound that way. Maybe it's a combo of Wendy, Lisa, Susie Davis and Sheila E..

somebody's fold back was not working during that song and whoever it is is really loud in the mix. Was Susie standing at the front with the brass?

lol it's probably a combo of all the female vocals, they're all out of tune, and, I hate to say it, W&L didn't sound too sharp during that tour. but it's not just them, susie and sheila too, VERY bad combo. they all, at the time, were "challenged" in that area, and them alll together was just train wrek.

I love W&Land sheila, but let's just say their vocals improved a great deal after the purple rain tour. must've gotten some lessons or somethin'...lol

lol That must have been it. Because they were ON IT for the Parade tour. They almost had a funky opera vibrato going on or something.

Susie was sharing the mic with Brownmark.

From what I can remember (haven't watched this in at least 5 years) did Susie have a ponytail and knee length skirt with a shiny strapless kind of top?

I don't remember a ponytail, she kind of spikey hair, think Aimee Mann in Voice's Carry.

My tv was pretty small, couldn't see who was who! Will have to watch it again, but I don't have the rest of that concert, just I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star because that's what accompanied the single release down here. I would love to see the rest of it too.

The concert is great, but like you said the backing vocals were a bit off on that tour. Have you seen any of the Parade tour on video?

Watch someone will read this as "Wendy and Lisa made Prince and Prince sucks and so does everyone who listens to him."

I haven't seen any of the Parade tour concerts in their entirety, (I haven't got anything on tape except what's been on TV) just odd songs here and there. The thought makes me salivate, however. For me, them were the days - it's my old age showing here, for I like a big band sound.

I wish Soft and Wet would have been on the Birthday 86 show, it goes perfect with IWBYL and Head.

If all these gals could sing as well as they could (and they wouldn't have got the gig if they couldn't) it is clearly the sound engineer's fault for not mixing their vocals high enough in their fold backs. In other words, they can't hear themselves or each other, and that translates into big trouble. I should've thought of that in the first place istead of starting this debate smile

It doesn't take much to start this debate believe me. Well whatever the problem was it was fixed by the Parade tour cause the backing vocals on that tour were amazing.

okay, as entertaining as you guys' exchanges are, can you please find some common ground?

everlasting, W&L just aren't rd's cup of tea. he doesn't hate them, but doesn't hold back on his negative thoughts toward them.

RD, everlasting simply prefers the W&L era of prince career to now, for whatever that reason may be, he just does. AND he certainly likes W&L more than prince, and you don't say bad things about someone you like, right?

We're all alowed to have opinions, and we're all alolwed to disagree, but damn y'all can et catty, lol.
and everlasting, this IS "Prince.org", a site dedicated to prince, so you'll come across a lot of "prince cheerleaders" (not that i'm saying RD is one of them)
now, can y'all please stop?
