Anyone care to dissect a song w/me???? How about "She Gave Her Angels"...
From 'Crystal Ball' And now I'd like 2 turn your heart 2 a tale of sheer delight A song of adulation, love and fear No one loved him better, no one better sacrificed She gave her angels that summer night Fate as she designed it took her from her man Destiny and love don't always go hand in hand (Hand in hand) As the world lay waiting like an embryo in a womb She gave her angels that night in June (She gave her angels) She gave her angels 2 a man because her man had none 2 watch over him till she returned - her man, her lover, her son Her father 4 all these things he meant 2 her, she felt it right She gave her angels that summer night {x2} *** I don't know...I can't tell if this is about Mayte and Prince losing their child...or if its about them being together as a couple. I know some of Prince's lyrics are very hard to decipher sometimes, but this is all in good fun...

Damn if that doesn't fit a Mayte scenario though..the fate and destiny part he described as him being destined to marry her "thats going to be my wife" talk etc... "Climb in my fur."

agreed...sometimes I wonder what the hell he's thinking when he writes, but that's what makes him so interesting.

The liner notes say:
A true story about Mayte - All instruments and voices by O)+> I remember him saying this was about the first time they were separated after marriage. Mayte did either a promotional trip to Spain or a performance at the Miami Glam Slam around this period... [This message was edited Wed Oct 15 13:32:48 PDT 2003 by Jestyr]

I loved his performance of this on the Muppets Tonight show - Him on a big white piano with Muppet angels flying over his head.
It was quite touching. | |

I 2 think its about Mayte. But not of loosing the child but of conceiving the child. Very, very beautiful song. He wrote some beautiful songs when they were 2gether. That's why I love "Emancipation" so much.
