Nervous people?Come Back, Top of the Charts, hit Machine whatever you wish he could be.

I would never target people on this site, this is just a genral comment in reaction to several posts I have seen since I have been here.

I remember when I was a kid anxiously waiting for Around The World In A Day to come out, what I don’t remember was really caring were Prince stood on the pop charts. The reason I am posting this is because I see allot of people overly concerned about Princes record sales and chart standings. I can’t ever remember caring about such things when I was a kid, I just dug the music and was always super stoked on just getting a new album. I mean hell, half of the hardcore bands I listened to were no longer around! I didn’t care what MTV thought (still don’t) or how record sales were or even if anyone else listened to the music. I liked it and that was just good enough for me. I was to busy skating and having fun to get caught up in that bull. I guess I want to blame the over-exposure of the majority of pop artist today. They are being exploited. I guess its subconsciously placed in our brains these days that if the artist doesn’t have a clothing line or their face on a soft drink they just cant cut it anymore (not everyone feels this way, but it makes you worry about the future of pop). I know Prince is probably one of the top ten of our generation, but due to marketing and stupid trends like Murder Rap and Boy Bands (not all are bad) he doesn’t fit with what sells. Who wants to hear about peace, knowledge, spirituality and love? I do, and I know you do to. That is all that should matter. What I am trying to say is please don’t let things like this get to you, they really don’t matter. What matters is if the music makes you happy and you enjoy it. I am a very big fan, and no critic could ever change that.

Well, it's natural for a fan to want his or her favorite recording artist to be successful. But like you, I agree that many here have a big preoccupation with how Prince can get back on the pop charts again. Seems to validate their musical taste.

I dont want validation, but I want more people to witness the same genius we do.

That's the natural part of it.

Well said. This is exactly how I feel too. I would love people to appreciate the talent that he possesses.

I agree totaly. I think the Gold Experience would have been a smash. To this day I still see people run to the dance floor when P-Control comes on. I dont even think they know who it is but its a nice sight.

Thanks for the replies people
