These were the first shows I went to and I was so young! I loved the concerts and I remember the It takes to to make a Thing go Right was so cool. Also remember The Thieves in the Temple video being played on the big screens and tryin to dance like I knew what the song was when I'd never heard it before, so that people wouldn't think I was 'uncool' The Hottest chip of them all - www.hotchip.co.uk - Get down with Prince

Yeah, i went to Birmingham NEC (UK) the same night England were playing Cameroon in the World Cup, I was kind of torn but i did stick to watching Prince unlike some fellow patrons who kept hitting the bars for updates on the score.Anyway England won! and Prince was great, though nowhere near as good as he was two years previously.
During Housequake, when we were all jumping up and down my sister managed to lose her glasses under the tier we were seated at.I guess doing the Housequake in glasses is never a good idea. I think it was the year he spent all summer in England.20-odd shows at Wembley Arena x 12,000 in the audience for each one, plus several shows elsewhere. He was huge back then, compare that to last year and the tiny venues.Oh well

I've got a video of this gig that was filmed during the Japan leg of the tour. It was taped from a live TV broadcast so it's great quality. Also went to every night on the London leg of the tour. Apart from the fact it was at Earls Court (horrible venue for concerts) I loved it!

Did he do some there and at Wembley Arena.I'm sure i distinctly remember a full page Ad in the music magazine hailing the string of dates at Wembley. It went under the tagline 'Nothing compares 2 him'

I remember being dis-appointed with the Nude Tour. We were quite close to the stage, but there was still an ever-so-slight boredom that crept in every now and then. There was a lot of jamming that just went on waaay too long. In a small setting, that would have been fine, but at the NEC, it was just a bit dull.
One thing I did like, however was when he sang Alphabet St and nobody did the 'Yeah yeah yeah' bit after the first verse. He just rolled his eyes and asked 'What's the matter, did you forget the words?'

In Paris, Parc des Princes - disappointing cause too short, too "best of" too - not enough spectacular imo for a stadium show but there were good moments

The Nude tour seems very hit and miss to me. I never saw it ( I was only 10), but from what i can make out, prince was going through a pretty transitional period musically.
I think most of the shows on the tour were too short, or at least that seems to be the major complaint, but there are some classic performances. Ive got a boot from one of the Wembley shows, and his performance of purple rain on that is wicked. The Live 4 Love breakdown before he goes off into a guitar solo is fantastic. I also thought that the Do Me Baby / Aint No Way / Nothing Compares 2 U medley was mind blowing. I've yet to find a more moving version of all these songs.

The nude tour is inferior to every tour that came before it.
But it was a fun-tour ... and superior to every tour that followed it ... but I really hate Rosie Gaines (musically of cause)... what an annoying voice

It's a great show but how on EARTH do you follow the most amazing tour by ANYONE??? You strip it down and don't even try.

The timing of the tour was unusual in that Prince was not touring a recently-released album, with the success of Batman from the previous year, and Grafitti Bridge only being released right at the end of the European leg of the tour.
As a result, for me the show lacked some of the sparkle and excitement of showcasing very recent material (other than 'The Question Of U') or even some of the more obscure stuff that he throws in to surprise and delight. The Batman material sounded a bit contrived and formulaic, as did throwing in the old 'Electric Man' routine. Although I enjoyed the show I saw, it was a comparative disppointment to previous tours that I had seen, and Prince's use of sampling didn't appeal to me. I can understand, however, how others seeing him live for the first time might still have been impressed. Two friends of mine who witnessed him for the first occasion were blown away by his Manchester performance even from the back of the stadium. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I loved the Nude tour. He broke the record at Wembley arena (17 nights!) and it rocked. I got to go to 15 of them.
Most casual fans I have taken said this was the best they had seen. A mix of hits and others, with no album to sell. Perfect. I think the opening 20 mins, is the most powerful opening ever. The Future, 1999, Housequake, kiss, as a mega mix. Worked perfectly. You just knew you were at a party! .

I saw the Minneapolis Nude show, the only one that he did in the states. I thought that it was a great show. Prince fell on his ass while sliding down a ramp. He threw his guitar down and went backstage, and within seconds, 4 roadies were wiping down the ramp with towels as if their lives depended on it.
I had great seats, and I don't think that there was ever anything on that ramp. Great set though... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

T'was my first ever Prince concert, Manchester Aug 90.
Still think it's a fantastic tour. Well, apart from the leotard-phase he was in...

I saw it in Ireland and loved it. Mavis opened up for the show and it was absolutely amazing. The main thing I remember was the festival seating... first come, first seated. the official GIRLY GIRL of the Lesbian wing of the Prince.org. Accept no substitutes!!!

Have I mentioned that I read all of your posts with delight? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I was up front, security barriers separted us from the mob...best part was the "ole ole ole" chants during Alphabet St. Prince was clueless...70,000 chanting our boys on to victory! Italia '90 "Waiting to be banned"

Everyone needs to know that that was during the World cup and when the crowd started chanting that, it was so fun. He was trying to get the crowd to chant the way he wanted it and he had to stop and say something like "who's show is this!".
Also, the Rosie stuff with Prince was great. What an amazing show. Anyone who didn't like the Nude tour didn't understand how cool it was to hear an unreleased song or two (from G. B. which came out months later) and Batman stuff for the first time (I think the show even started with The Future if I remember it right). Glad there were others there enjoying the day like I did. Wish I was up front with you but my girlfriend at the time didn't like crowds so we hung back. the official GIRLY GIRL of the Lesbian wing of the Prince.org. Accept no substitutes!!!

That tour was so boring, I've forgotten exactly how many of the concerts I attended. I blame the Game Boyz.
The only real highlights were the previews of The Question Of U, plus the occassional performance of Bambi. And When Doves Cry never sounded better live than on that tour. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

I saw it in the Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam (twice I think), the first one it was pooring with rain and the show was cut short, due to the fact that it was becoming too dangerous because of the risk of getting shocked by the electricity.
At the end of the tour P. returned to Holland, this time to a roofed venue, the Thialf ice skating stadium in Heerenveen. That show was awesome. Quite a bit longer then the first ones too. And ofcourse it didn't rain outside.

I attended the Nude Tour in Rome (the only ever concert in my hometown!). There were a few problems with the sound system and the place wasn't filled with people, but I remember it as a real fun experience... I always thought Prince had quite a bit of fun too that night: grinning and smiling all the time... oh, and sweating a lot! It was hot and humid and I remember being impressed by the fact that he was sweating so much. *********************************

Great show though apart from the support act ( Jenny Morris ) even though I had to travel all the way back to the UK soaking wet and missed my girlfriend's 21st birthday! I still have the ticket stub somewhere. It has a picture of him as Gemini/Partyman.

I went to these gigs too. I think the Maine Road gig was rescheduled from an earlier date. I,m sure I read somewhere that after the gig he travelled on the tour bus overnight to London. Whilst on the bus he was carrying out some last minute editing on the Graffiti Bridge movie!!! What kind of guy edits a movie on a bus fer christsakes???

I attended the two shows at the Westfalenhalle/Dortmund (the same venue where the "Livesexy"-video was shot). At least one of them was originally planned for a much bigger venue, the Müngersdorfer Stadion/Cologne, but moved to the Westfalenhalle because of the poor ticket sales. Anyway it was a good tour, not so innovative or spectacular like the "Sign" or the "Lovesexy"-Shows (and I think that's the main reason for the bad reviews, then, a lot of critics didn't understand why P. did the soundtrack for such a bullshit film like "Batman"), but still a-blowing away-show, especially the medley of the first three songs! -----------------------------------------
