I've changed my tune on this one. TRC is not holding very well for me at least. Maybe later...maybe.

I just can't really follow Prince too much on it. Seems gothicy and preachy and just a little mean in some ways...religiousy.

i've loved trc since it came out. along with lovesexy, it is my favorite prince record. news took me a while but the other night i realized that it is quite good, actually. i need to be in the mood to hear it but, when i am, it is the perfect sound.

for the folks who don't dig rainbow children: what exactly is it that you don't like? i know many have a problem with 'the voice', but musically speaking, what don't you like about? just curious.

I, for one, can't wait for Prince to knock off the holy roller Chuck Mangione crap and to put out some exciting music again. TRC is not holding up well in my playlist, and I haven't even bought NEWS yet, cuz' it's not so easy to find; besides, my motivation isn't high for what smells like a jam session toss-off.

Prince has been treading water for about 2 years already; it's time for some real music.

I've heard TRC; and don't think it's all that bad; but it is far from being one of my favorite Prince albums. I haven't heard NEWS yet. Kinda hard to hear an album that you can only buy on the net; but you have to pay a fee to join the "club; then, you have to pay another fee to get the album...MAN, I'm poor. If I have to choose between buying a membership to NPGMC, then buying NEWS over buying...hmmm...let's say...FOOD, I'm going to have to choose the food. I'll think about Prince while I'm in the check-out line waiting to pay for my steaks, pork chops, cookies, and my romance novel. Living in a Worldly existence; now that's the life for me.

TRC has some of the best production Prince has done for a while & is a Good album, although I do hate being preached to on any level (I especially don't like some of the notes in the ONA Box Set booklet). There are some Great tracks on that album though & I still have it on heavy rotation.

N.E.W.S. I am sorry, but I cannot get into this at all. It sounds like Hotel Background music in places, the production is no where near as tight as TRC & sometimes when I hear it I find myself wondering if Prince hasn't just released a 'Yellow Submarine' just so that he can see how many ppl will like what he does no matter how bad it is.

Anyway, it's a personal opinion & maybe after a few more plays the Pied Piper will lead me to the water too.

I do love the music on TRC but like many of you hate the way some of the lyrics say in a roundabout way to 'get with the program or get out'. I always think religion & politics should be covered in music but in a less blatant fashion, still 'Everlasting Now' is just a classic track & some of the guitar work on the album is awsome!

The lyrics may fade but the music lives on 4eva.
