Didn't NPGMC have a similar contest? What were the results of that?

No, I started that at the same time, but finished it after 7 or 8 rounds - only 3 or 4 people voted each round. I think everyone was scared to vote off Prince's children on his own site...

Just As Long As We're Togethre was played in 1980. The song is circulating from march 6th, 1980. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Thank you for running this, Booyah! It was a pleasure to participate, even if the last 2 rounds certainly didn't go as I wanted!

Damn - I just tried burning this - it only just doesn't fit on 2 CDs - the first disc is 79:59 (from Just As Long As We're Together to Gett Off), and the second disc is over 77 minutes (from 7 to East) - unfortunately my discs (which claim to be 80:00) are 79:57 long each...
Maybe I'll need to edit some silence off some of the tracks...

Yeah, thnx Booyah! Lets Hope P. will read this. Can anyone forward this topic to him?
Maybe now we can start a contest where everyone has to vote for the best song (in stead of a negative vote).

I think that would be interesting - I think it might give different results for some years. I'm not sure I want to take it on, though - anyone else? dawn74?

ok, I burned it on an mp3 disc in the end - my discman plays mp3 CDs anyway.
I'm just reaching the end of the disc now (I'm on East), and what has struck my in listening to this is just how representative and varied the winners are. The piano of One Nite Alone... to the electronics of Lady Cab Driver, the rap of P Control to the falsetto of Power Fantastic, the guitar of Don't Play Me to the guitar of Joy In Repetition, the relaxation of When The Lights Go Down to the raw power of parts of East, the band atmosphere of Rainbow Children to the one man jam of I Wanna Be Your Lover... Even if you don't agree with all the winners (and I don't) this is still an amazing, and very representative selection of Prince's variety and genius.

FYI: You can burn all 26 tracks on 2 regular discs. I cut out the 3 minute instrumental at the end of Rainbow Children. As a two disc set, it actually works well.
