Who invented this?

I talk about the "almost trademark" formula "Produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince". A lot of musicians have imitated (for example, Lenny Kravitz).

But I wonder, did Prince invent that formula? If not, who was it?

And I'd prefer Prince to write the instruments he and his musicians play in each song (like in "For you"), and not this formula and equivalents (All instruments by Prince and things like that).

And you?

I didn't know other people did that too - but I've thought about Prince doing that a lot too - I remember thinking it was really cool when I picked up the TMBGITW single on the day of release to see "Produced, arranged, composed and performed by prince".

Back in 1970 Paul McCartney's debut album 'McCartney' was produced, arranged, composed and performed by himself except for some backing vocals by Linda

I can't remember which ones, but Teena Marie has claimed this on some of her albums.
