SLEEP AROUND I have to say that this has to be one of Prince's finest dance songs to date.
Im totally addicted to it after all this time. I recently got an early demo of it which was fab. Alot harder sounding with swearing at the begining of it. What do u guys think of this track/ This love is a private affair

A cool song, but I must admit that, unfortunately, the drum track is the weakest part. It's so Kirky's production like. Also, one can easily guess that Prince could not edit down the song to keep this 60-minute mark per each Emancipation CD. The song shortened by a chunk of the second half wouldn't lose much.
Otherwise, it adds to the 3rd Emancipation disc - a dance song, with the usual Princely theme, that somehow lightens up the otherwise serious subject matters raised on this particular disc. ______________
Vanity working on a weak head produces every sort of mischief.

It's one of my favourite song from Emancipation. Maybe too long.

This song seems to be loved, but no matter how much I try, it bores me. A bit like Cream. A weak attempt at a pop hit.
I think the production on this one is the worst on all of Emancipation. Believe it or not, I much prefer other "weaker" tracks like Da Da Da and The Human Body. I do like the verses, but the chorus is just...crap! .

Great track.
Another obvious release that got overlooked in favour trying to hook the black market with dirgy R&B ballads. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm a sucker for a major chord

Cool song that should have been the first single.I could see this song being a huge club/dance hit back in 1996/97.

It was planned as a single (along with Sex In The Summer, My Computer & The Love We Make) but sadly got pulled. I imagine because of the tragic circumstances that the album tied in with.

Don't like it. The only thing that made me listen to it a
few more times was the line: "Eye'm the one who sent the herbs and a book on how 2 use them". For the rest, it sounded weird. As if you'd heard it over a hundred times before, but slightly better. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

One of my all time favourite Prince songs!! I have kept that song on repeat for hours. That song is sooo damn funky. I don't see how anyone can sit still while it's playing.

As far as singles from this CD goes,I don't Prince or EMI had a game plan at all.It would have made sense to release a great uptempo track for the first single---"Sleep Around" or even "The Human Body"---and then follow it up with something like "Emale","Right Back Here In My Arms" and then "The Holy River".

I don't know how accurate it was but there was an article that said the following would be the singles: Betcha By Golly Wow The Holy River Sex In The Summer Sleep Around My Computer One Of Us The Love We Make. But then in an interview Prince said "There are up to eighteen singles on this album". So who knows.

Sleep Around was indeed going to be a single. Unfortunately
the whole project kinda got lost in the EMI 'reshuffle'. Very sad.
