Synth funk!

Prince was at his best, in my humble opinion, back in the day (81-83) when he was rolling out those nastified synth jams like DMSR, Erotic City and Let's Work. Since then, I've spent hundreds of dollars buying everything after, but to my dismay, nothing compares to those royal blue days when the boy was churning out the funk like it was growing on trees. That shit just reeked of greasy, fried funk like a bunch of nasty toe jam. It's been a steady downhill stream for me since. Anyway, what are your top 5 all-time synth jams? I'd be interested to hear opinions. Also, if Prince reads this stuff, please put out a double album pulled from the vault of only funk/synth jams produced between 1981-83 and you will be the man again. Peace and funk it up, ya'll.

5. Irresistible Bitch
4. Let's Work
3. 100 MPH
2. DMSR
1. Erotic City

Yeah, what I thought was funny about all of that is that Synth's were used almost exclusively by New Wave bands.
Didn't we hear someone say WE DON'T like New Wave?

Yes! Thick is the best way to describe the sound. That's one of them jams that forces people out onto the dance floor.

Oh yeah, that's the sound I love best too! Prince's and Zapp's synthfunk are the main influences for my own music!

My favorite musical genre. It's what hooked me as well.

My faves that I would define as synth FUNK are:

1. 1999
2. Controversy
3. All the Critics Love U in New York
4. Automatic
5. DMSR

Prince just TORE IT UP back then- no BS about anything- just the groove.
