Well this is indeed a new song and he is casting in L.A. for a video so I think he's just taking the next logical step with his guess/wish.

I've heard from people who's taste I trust that the song is "nothing special" so I hope it's not the lead single off a new album.

does this mean they may be a chance of him trying to hit the mainstream music scene once more?
what with a world tour backing him an all?
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

I have heard the song and the beat it is better than a lot of the crap he has put out in the past couple of years. I liked it instantly. Not a song that u have to force yourself to listen too and pretend u like it.(that is what i had to do with the rainbow children) lol

Rainbow CHildren kicks ass! with the exception of track 3 and the weak "Now there must be a wedding" shit

The song's okay...reminds me of Northside. It's definitely not anything that would get any airplay, especially with a video starring a little kid impersonating Prince! Heh. As a download or as a track on an NPG album, it would work pretty well. It's got the rap from the lyrics to "Prince and The Band" that circulated last year (I remember the part about the rim-shot on a new Roots joint), and features some silly-cheesy N!P!G! cat-calls.

How odd that he's making a video for it. I think Reflections would have had a better shot than Musicology at making any kind of dent in the scene...and I just don't see that happening.

The fucked up part is that he probably won't even release the video as a download to people who paid to be in the club...I always wondered why he didn't give us High and all the other videos that were shot and never shown. Doesn't it bother him to waste so much money? At least if he gave them a no-frills limited release on the internet they would be serving a purpose.

why should it bother him to waste the money when he recoups it from his fans?

Please please don't let it be like any of the shit from High!!!

That is Prince at his worst. No programmed beats please!!!

John Blackwell should be on every track Prince makes.

Please, I want an album played by a real band on real instruments.

Something like TRC in fact, but even funkier if that's possible.

AMEN!

(Or pure uncut Linn Drum electrofunk, that would be cool too, but I don't see that happening at this point of his career...)
