well regardless of what anyone thinks, this is what i think. i hope it's a good year for the fella. it looks like it could be but then again you know how prince is...he may just cancel all the plans that are coming up and announce his retirement and we will all be back to square one all over again so don't get all worked up over someone none of you even know.

It appears that he may be recording some music for Universal. If this is the case will you still bitch about Prince not getting himself together. In addtion, selling out 12,000.00 seat venues in Australia is not a small matter.
As far as the DVD is concerned most of the reviews I have read in print media and on the net have been good.
Just can't face reality can you. Prince will never have the popularity of the Purple Rain era but, he could still have moderate success with his recordings if he has a major label behind him.

No'one is debating having moderate success, I hope and wish he does.. but there is no way he can even achieve moderate at the most basic level with the releases of NEWS and the Live AT The Aladin disk.. thats just rediculous..

Release some real shit and he'll get his moderate, or revenue is what he likes to call it.

and BTW- Ure talking to the wrong person about major record labels.. I, just like a majority here, know that he doesnt really need a label to have that kindof success, and for that matter, make good music.. Im heavily into the indie music scene, and are into A LOT of artists that dont have that kindof backing, and they are still producing better stuff that will withstand the NEWS and LIVE dvd's, which consist of a setlist only a die hard fan can enjoy.

What makes you think NEWS was put out to sell millions of copies? No one is going to jamming to this in their car.
I think Prince was aware of that. For every person who hates it there are people who like it. I like North, South and West. I hate EAST. You do not like the project at all. It is really a matter of opinion.
I by the way like the DVD and many others have posted on this board who like it as well. It is really just a matter of taste.

As far as indie music is concerned I think a lot of it sucks and if Prince wants to have moderate success he needs the backing of a major label.
If he had the backing of a label no one on this board would be bitching about the picture quality of the DVD. That is just an example of what a large corporation with deep pockets can do for an artist.

As far as the set list on the DVD. Aren't people on this site going on and on about to many hits in the show. Don't people on this site still rave about Prince finally playing "Joy In Repetion" Do you know how long I waited to hear him do "Adore" live ? I do not have an issue with the set list considering he is getting ready to do a hits tour and those songs are going back in the toy box for a while.
