Bootleggers anonymous I am new to this whole idea of bootlegs. Without even realizing it I had two that my sister in-law had given me.
I'm interested in how many people have, which ones couldn't you do without and whether you have ever attended a meeting of BA. BTW, what did people do before the internet, newsgroups, fan sites. Has anyone been collecting that long? How many do you have and do you need to attend a meeting of BA? Bootlegs are evil. Don't buy them. You're stealing from Prince. Send them back immediately to The Pharaoh, c/o Paisley Park Sheep Dip & Snip. BTW, what did people do before the internet, newsgroups, fan sites. Has anyone been collecting that long? We grew long beards, cultivated butt lice and sat around rubbing sticks in caves for flames and farting on the sparks for fire and fun. You must either be very young or pretending to be. Welcome. Sadly I'm 34. I wasn't making a negative statement about bootlegs - the opposite was intended. Around Minneapolis, Prince vinyl boots were literally found in the basements of record stores.
When the CD hit, record shows were a monthly reason to spend more cash than you wanted to. I always set a limit on how much I would spend, and I would always go over that. It was a sickness. A good sickness. Sort of like sexual addiction, without the funny faces and the nap... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

It was much more fun finding the stuff at your local record shop. Melrose was the place in LA in the late 80's and early 90's. | |

bootlegs have been widely available in the uk.
at record fairs, every stall sold em (17 years ago). they still do but the quality's better now due to digital cd's. all those years ago we got real dodgy tapes and vinyl. the reason i am so precise with 17 years is my son scot was born 17 years ago and that morining, i was at the record fair buying p boots ! | |
