SO I WENT OUT LAST NITE AND.... besides getting absolutely paraletic, we danced like a . anyway, the dj chucked on a couple of Michael songs and the place went mental. all i'm sayin' is that Michael Jackson gets a lot more props on the dance floor than ol Purple Trousers even tho he is the freak that he is nowadays.

Yep and it's for two reasons:
1. In his hey day Michael was harmless. Prince on the other hand, has always been about being provocative. He can't appeal to your mum a lot of the time, in other words. He's not G or even PG rated a lot of the time...hence the lack of mass appeal. 2. Michael has basically stayed in the public eye for one reason or another for his whole career. Prince, on the other hand...plays the mainstream game whenever it fits in which what he is doing creatively. Hence, as we all know...Prince is the artist, Michael is the entertainer. . Also too I think Michael has put out alot of crap or so so music at best since Thriller, so when the old school Michael comes on, u think to ureself, "yeah, these were the days", and just think how great an entertainer he was. Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

Well, when I go to 'The Electric Chair' in Manchester, which is considered one of the UK's finest underground clubs, the 'lil purple fucker goes down a bomb.
On a far smaller scale, he always gets a big reaction when I drop him down the pub. "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

While MJ still is hot on the dancefloor (obviously Billie Jean, but i recently heard Scream and BOTDF) and has quite a few very danceable songs that r easy to throw in the mix, Prince gets played quite a lot in bars and clubs around here. Little Red Corvet seems to be a favorite, but many others get regular play also.
Btw, the points made about MJ beeing 'harmless' compared to Prince may have been true at some point but are totally pointless right now. There's nothing even remotely 'harmfull' about Princess music these days (bsides the religious bull). Went to a club lately? And while it MIGHT b true that MJ is entertainer over artist and Prince artist over entertainer, it's more complicated than that and NOT EVERY LITTLE DAMN THING can b brought back to this difference. Some people seem obsessed by it. "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

I dunno, Here in Vancity, you can go to a club for Retro 80z and MJ clears the floor. Erotic City comes on and the ladies are taking their clothes off. No Shit!! All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

Stop comparing that frakshow MJ to Prince!! PLEASE!!!
There is no comparison!! OK Michael is one of the greatest ENTERTAINERS that has ever lived, a child prodigy. But Prince is a more genius all around musician and probably one of the most talented and Prolific musicians ever!! Michael is a great entertainer (even though he hasn't been right since about 1990), but can he write a song? Can he play all the instruments, produce it, compose all the music? Michael needs good collaborators to make him look good..And he hasn't in a while!! *White, Black, Puerto Rican..Everybody just a-freakin'...-Prince(1980)*

Mj is a very talented fella.
