Heaven v. Texas The UK band 'Texas' have just released a new single called 'Carnvial Girl'. It's quite a good song, not bad. The thing is, after a couple of listens I've noticed that they've "borrowed" the organ riff from Prince's most fantasticly beautiful song 'Heaven'.
Am I going in insane? Have I been listening to 'Heaven' too much? Any UK fans think the same? All these questions and more... ..sharmone MF..! | |

someone mentioned that texas had ripped of martika's love thy will be done i am going by memory here and my memory's failling badly ! cant remember the texas song .

You're right, that song was 'Say What You Want'. They used Prince's lyrics thus
"And when I get that feeling, I can no longer slide, I can no longer run, Ah no no" The melody was from 'Love Thy Will Be Done" from the "I can no longer run" bit. I guess it's a form of flattery, especially if they decide to use the melody from 'Heaven'...but that song cannot be touched!!! ahh-erm... ..sharmone MF..! | |

We played that on an Aberdeen guy from work a couple of weeks back - did the sheep jokes and that. But he came back with this Glasgow joke:

I'm glad you've took it with the good sense of humour you've got!!
Anyways, I always thought Texas were an ok band - different from the normal pop acts you get in the UK (Girls Aloud anyone??) - glad to see that Prince keeps on influencin'. ..sharmone MF..! | |
