HMV have a massive sale on and Emancipation is £3.99 (was £26.99)

yeah - I saw that at the weekend too.

Unbelievable. All that music for less than 4 quid!!

Virgin were having a mega sale too and SOTT was fairly cheap in that.

Hopefully it'll get people who've forgotten about Prince listening to him again...

the third disc on my copy broke.
it plays fine up till the begininng of The Love We Make then it stops sad
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I saw this earlier in the week and it invoked a very strange reaction and chain of events.

The first was surprise and joy at being able to get a couple more copies (will it stop being produced a la TGE?) for such a great price.

The next phase was me suddenly wanting to become a salesman and not letting anyone pass without telling them what a great bargain this was and how Prince is still alive and kicking.

I then started feeling a bit ashamed and embarrassed that "the album he was born to make" was selling for £3.99.

Before I knew what I was doing, I was removing all the copies from the sale shelves and putting them back under the Prince section.

Explain that one to the assistant when questioned!!!

Even at £3.99 I wouldn't say it was a bargain. Some of his worst work and I'd call it boring at it's best.

The good thing about SOTT in Virgin was that it had been pulled out to the front of the shop on a promotional stand + when you walked thru the entrance you were confronted with about 12 copies of the CD next to each other. It was literally the first thing I saw in the shop.

Is it the slim case version? 2 CDs in a 1CD-style case, or the full big case version?

You're kidding right...?

I'd pay £3.99 just for Soul Sanctuary

I'd pay £3.99 just for The Holy River

I'd pay £3.99 just for The Love we make

It certainly is not his best but come on, let's not talk stupid. 36 new songs...I guarantee that if it wasn't released you would be happy to pay £50 for a bootleg of it!

It's the full version. They've been going cheap for a long time. A shop in Cambridge has had them for £3 for ages.

ive seen it in the uk regularly for £6.99 occasionally in asda / wal-mart its been £6.99 for years ! and i thought that was a bargain ive bought 2 copies just 2 give away to peeps !!!

sadly this shows where p sits in the industry 2day triple cd at £1.33 a disc think about it !!!

Kinda sad that it's going so cheap. It probably means that unsold copies of Emancipation are taking up valuable warehouse space the world over.

Yeah, I was puzzled about that one. I'll post a new topic.
