WHY NOT THE ONE NITE ALONE ALBUM?

i don't understand, why didn't prince officially release the one nite alone album?
this album in my opinion is one of his greatest albums of all time.
far, far better than n.e.w.s. which made it into my local hmv.
i love all prince's albums but can't help being so dissapointed with news, not one i'll listen to again.
i admire the "new direction in music" but it just doesn't work for me.

Heavenly

I'd really like to see the One Nite Alone in stores too.
I don't have NEWS yet, but I'll get it soon.
I think it was just something he felt like doing. I'm sure he'll be changing style again soon.
Not all can like everything he does, some will be disappointed no matter what he does. each time, different people. can't satisfy all. especially if you do the music you want to do, and not what expected of you.

Yeah, I think the same. It's a very interesting album, like "Xpectation". It's a pity because maybe the melodies are not incredibly good, but they work and Prince plays piano amazingly well. If he wants to be considered a real, good musician, he needs to show his work to all the critics and people.
How can people know he is a good pianist if he doesn't offer his work?
Same to "Xpectation".

But I disagree about "News". I love this album.

yeah, i just feel that prince needs a hit album or maybe he doesn't) and i feel that the one nite alone album could have been it.

next year maybe,
with a new album?, a greatest hits release and a new 20th anniversary re-release of the purple rain album and dvd, maybe next year will be a big year for him.

I imagine that being Prince and trying 2 decide what 2 release must B tough...

I still don't have One Night Alone, and have only heard two songs...

Xpectation was amazing, and should have DEFINATELY been released.

His decisions are quick at times...

I'd love 2 know who's idea it was 2 tour Europe and not the US when Sign O The Times hit. A US tour with that stuff at that time with his particular style at that time would've hit BIGGG.

The First Ave SOTT rehearsal video is still one of my fav concerts...

I think at this point he just does what he wants, when he feels like it.

I guess that's what we all want don't we?

It has been presented as Prince's idea, as the interest in the SOTT releases suggested that the planned tour of the US after Europe would not be on the back of the album and singles riding high in the charts - whereas the title track had peaked at #3, the second release, 'If I Was Your Girlfriend' only reached #67 - the like of which hadn't happened since before the release of 1999. (Ironically the next two singles both went top ten!)

By the time the rain started falling in June in Europe, and with the London shows also having to be cancelled, Prince had seemingly decided that the reception to the show would not be as he had anticipated, and he preferred to film the show for release instead.

Sorry to say, but this makes it very clear that the P fanbase doesn't know what they want.

On one hand alot of us very upset because he released "ONA Live" to the public, although an exclusive NPGMC member release had been promised.

On the other hand alot of us ask that the exclusive NPGMC member release "One Nite Alone" has not been released to the public.
