Obviously you haven't seen the video for "Sexuality", he's in a church wearing a bikini lipsynching to lyrics about "The New breed" It might just be me but I found it to be just a bit blasphemous. You're right though, the later videos he made were a bit conservative, but that sexuality video, DAMN! I know Warner Bros got some dirty letters on that one.

i don't see nuffin blasphemous about that vid...hmm

One was done for P.Control right?

There's a vid for almost every song (released and unreleased) between 1990 and ongoing...
For example there are vids for every single song on prince, "Come", "The Gold Experience" and "Emancipation" and everything inbetween...

In which case add all those to the list too!

The whole stage as a church pulpit cross thing seems blasphemous to me..which made it more ..enticing? to me..no wonder he is all TRC-ed now. Feelin guilty etc?

I've never seen any videos for "Come". I haven't seen a lot of what you are talking about! I feel so deprived. And I never understood the werid tracklisting on "The Hits" collection. Why no "When Doves Cry" on there? And I've argued about this with people. There never was a real video for "Purple Rain" was there?

Well, the SOTT clip was quite a groundbreaking video at the time it was released...

Solely on the strength and overall impact of the live performance, the 'Sign O' The Times' movie was an undisputed tour de force.

However, the more one analyses the 'Sign O' The Times' movie the more it is revealed to be less than the sum of its parts. The storyline vignettes (which is where Prince's strengths as a video maker should have come into play), were downright silly and cheesy by anybody's standards.

In fact, 'Sign O' The Times' isn't even on a par with far worthier movie concerts, such as Talking Heads' 'Stop Making Sense', directed by Jonathan Demme, to cite just an example.

the sott vid at the time blew ure sox off ! , it was and still is entertaining he really did make mj look nailed to the floor, i watched it recently for the 1st time in ages and thought it looked so dated ! what do you think ?

IT DOESN'T EXIST !

It was an old April fools joke run by some of the old Controversy team. Now & again you see the same gag ran on here by some of them.

Unbelivably, the rumours of its existance still go around biggrin

Damn - and I thought I had a collector's item!!!

Mind you, I always wondered where the track was hidden, and why Prince allowed that Disney man to take all the credit for the animation.

There are several Prince videos that I've never seen...

"Let's Pretend We're Married" (1983)
"Eye Hate U" (1995)
"Dolphin" (1994)
"The Holy River" (1997)

In addition, there are a ton of videos that were shot during the "slave years"(1993-95) that I have heard about, but have never actually seen.I've never even seen the "Undertaker" mini-movie with Vanessa Marcil!

The "I Wish U Heaven" video is superb.Oddly enough,it was never shown on MTV,but I used to see it regularly on BET.It features Prince with Boni,Cat and Sheila and they all appear to be in "heaven".It's really unique.

I've seen them all, or at least all of them before 1998 or so. Prince's videos have always been pretty disappointing overall, or at least not very "artistic". The early ones were performance clips which were fine with me. Then he tried some more artsy ones that usually didn't work that well. I think the vid for I Wish U Heaven is his best, and Alphabet St maybe his worst.

lol...I think most of us have never seen that video. It baffles me why it wasn't shown back in '83.Prince was red-hot in those days, and his other videos from this period ("1999","Little Red Corvette" and even "Automatic") were widely shown on the video channels.

Partyman! I would love to see the video to this!

But PARTYMAN is a hoot and a holler - fun, crazy, charming, entertaining - I wish it woulda gotten more play, because it was one of the best!

this video is a trrriiippp! i was watchin' it recently, and couldn't help thinking , WTF???!!
i mean, it sorta reminds me of eyes wide shut, with the masquerade party. everyone's dancing around, the music's playin', and gemini (prince) poisons the water, so eveyone ends up dead in the end like in some bizarre religious cult.
i was thinking of starting a thread just on the partyman video. i mean, what message is he trying to convey? how morbid to see all those dead bodies at the end. maybe mtv never showed it 'cause they didn't want the grief.
it's kinda cool though, doesn't have anything to do with batman, which is a relief.
