The above is taken from the NPGMC. My theory is that his new album will be a "Hits" album with remastered workings on some classic tracks. The new tour has been hyped as the last time he will play his hits live and it would tie in perfectly to release a reworked hits package right now in his career. There will be lots of media interest in the next year what with the 20th anniversary of PR and the Hall of Fame nomination. The world tour will be a hit with the media if he plays crowd pleasing hits and this could be a pre-emptive strike to get the share of the market that WB will inevitebly try and milk.

Chances are he has reworked all of Purple Rain and will release that along with a couple of extra tracks and extended versions of Purple Rain and Computer Blue. As long as it isn't a load of versions of 1999 TNM and it's more in the vein of Starfish and Coffee's newer version I'll be happy.
