Just watched graffiti bridge for the first time

Just two questions

1. How come everyone seems to think its a re make of Purple Rain

2. Who are the members of the NPG in this film??

It wasn't a remake of Purple Rain-it's supposed to be a sequel, but the less said about that the better...

Levi Seacer Jnr, Miko Weaver, Rosie Gaines and the Game Boyz (Tony M, Damon Dickson and Kirk Johnson) are all in the film

WB wouldn't go for Graffiti Bridge unless it was marketed as a Purple Rain sequel.

NPG was (from memory)

Gameboyz
Levi
Miko
Michael B
Rosie

and Prince's hairdresser doing a cameo ("BANG"!) filling in for Fink who was busy programing Synths 4 the upcoming Nude tour

Not so much a movie as much as a bunch of good and bad music videos all put 2gether 2 look like a movie.

Great music tho'.

I just bought it last week aswell.
Prince looks depressed in it.
Some of the songs are okay, not groundbreaking like 'Purple Rain' - I hate the title song.
The screenplay is BAD

Hmmm,let's look at the similarities...

***Prince ("The Kid") and Morris are once again fighting for the attention of a lovely Latina chick

***Once again, there seems to be a "battle-of-the-bands" thing going on

***Prince ("The Kid") is once again,on a motorcycle

***Prince ("The Kid") is once again dealing with "issues" concerning his parents and his direction in life

***Prince, once again, performs a big, dramatic song at the end ("Still Would Stand All Time") which somehow makes everything alright...lol...

***In 'Purple Rain',Prince performs one really nasty, offensive song ("Darling Nikki") that makes everybody pissed at him.In 'GB',Prince, once again, performs one really nasty, offensive song ("Tick,Tick Bang") which makes everybody pissed at him again...lol

and don't 4 get the loose reference to "Billy" leaving the club to Morris & Prince. In PR, he seemed like he had his head screwed on as a businessman, then he writes his will and gives half to Morris and half 2 Prince? - Moron!

LOL smile

As sequels go,'GB' has a very weak storyline.

But the question, Cloud9, is did you enjoy the movie? I'm one of the few who did and I'm unashamed to mention it.

I enjoyed "Graffiti Bridge" too. It wasn't as good as "Purple Rain"; but, IMO it was better than "Under the Cherry Moon". I just couldn't get into "Under the Cherry Moon" like I did with "PR and "GB".

it was crap. in every aspect except for some of the songs which are genius,ie, joy in repetition. but i kinda underastand that prince needed to get that out of his system and the 'message' of the film is sweet. i guess it just shows that musicians arent meant to direct and write films, but, hey he tried.

Controversial post omg

Things I LOVE about GB:

The Question of U or Love Scene,whatever- The way he says "nothing matters anymore"(hey,I'd rather a man whisper that in my ear during an intimate moment, then say something stupid like WHAT'S MY NAME!)

Only P could do a "love scene" keep his clothes on & still make me horny as hell.

Aura sitting on the bridge, looking at Morris & Jerome like what do these fools want,I'm writing..
And the scenery-you know, the bridge, the trees, the sky, everything (Not that any of you were paying attention to that,of course rolleyes)

Jill in her Azzedine Alaia dresses & jet black hair.
The black dress Aura wears when Morris takes her to Pandemonium.

"Love, there isn't a man alive who truly understands the word"

George and friends doing We Can Funk- woo,meow...

The Love Machine performance.

"Some kind of sign, some kind of green light that says ITS OKAY..its okay to continue.."
"Its hard to see green, when there's so much blue"

He opens up to Aura, and actually talks to her,& he looks like he's comfortable with her in a way that he doesn't with Apples in PR.(Not that you were paying attention to that either)

Prince's best look ever-long hair, beard, and shirts with sleeves that are too long, making him all vulnerable, like he needs to be taken of smile

STILL WOULD STAND ALL TIME -HELLO!!!

If you think all that sucks,well...

Then I guess you're just more into the silly/I wanna compete with the rappers/gun microphone/buffoonish Prince.
If that's the case, then I guess there's no reasoning with you.

It's pretty bad when you're sitting in a crowded theater on opening night...people walk out during the movie...and when it was over...people walking thru the lobby saying "I'll never see another Prince movie again!!!"

Shoulda been EDITED into a 20 min video...
Shoulda went STRAIGHT to video...

come to think of it...

Should've NEVER been made in the first place...or he should've lightened up...and got another director.

No one did that opening night while I saw it. But...being put through gazillions of film classes, the screen play and plot was weak, as said before, and trite. So very cliche. It was not finished. The setting was sooo warner bros soundstage studios... But...I like it for sentimental reasons, ans sentimental only.
