How did the Girl 6 soundtrack come about??

The soundtrack came out in 1996 and prince was gone from WB at that time. so how did the girl 6 song and count the days and she spoke to me end up on the soundtrack?

i think that Spike Lee had heard these songs and litterally begged Prince to add these to his soundtrack
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

The OST came out between Gold & Chaos & Disorder if I remember correctly (?)

I love that film - I get the impression it's kind of ignored as a flop, can't even get it on DVD - but I love it.

Fantastic film!
The little acting coach woman ("Smell the shit")
Madonna's cameo! (heavy make-up, one of her better performance)
PLUS Naomi Campbell saying 'Dick drip'

It might be the worst Spike Lee joint - even with the Prince music!

I love Girl 6, both the film and the soundtrack. It's (for the most part) a fun, light, sexy, silly movie - don't expect another "Do The Right Thing" or even "Crooklyn", and you'll have a good time. "He Got Game" bored the crap out of me - even the Public Enemy soundtrack was a dud, in my opinion.

The 'Girl 6' movie and soundtrack was released in early 1996,when Prince was still signed to Warners. It came out between 'TGE' and 'Chaos And Disorder'.

Isn't there a reference in the liner notes to the inclusion of "Sometimes it Snows in April"? That always struck me as odd, since that song isn't on the soundtrack.

I haven't seen the movie, though. Maybe it's somewhere in the film but wasn't included on the CD?

here i go agreeing with u again. i love it too. Madonna on screen, Prince music playing in the background -- ahh, I was in heaven.

but then, i liked "He Got Game". A lot.

Anyway, if i remember correctly, there were other songs used in "Girl 6" that aren't on the OST. i remember "take me with U" for sure. I haven't seen it since the theater, though.
