The Tavis Smiley interview from BET Tonight,1998 i saw this a couple of weeks ago (still got the tape...vince let me know if u want them back  )

That has to be the worst interview. along with Larry King.
All Prince was doing was rehashing the same old shit-poor me fighting the record company-gimme my masters back or your masters own you... blah,blah,blah...man, talk about boring. Then he wants to drag out Chaka and Larry and use up time to promote their own cd's. Then they promote his COME ON video that looked like my little sister taped it on our camcorder...very unprofessional '98' was the worst year for Prince. That year reminded me of the 3 stooges on tour. Even if a concert was coming around you know half the set was going to the other too and ruin it. I would not pay to see half a show. "

i thought the interview was cool. that whole bit where prince starts talking about sampling and he's making that goofy face after saying (in a just as funny voice) 'yes, my mic is on!'...classic prince goofiness. my only problem with the interview was the journalist.
good grief, tavis smiley has got to be one of the WORST journalists i've ever seen in action... | |
