Who's gonna bet with me that......

thsi new tour is really gonna be a jazz tour? since it is claimed that he will play his old hits for ther last time, i bet they are going to be rejigged into jazz arrangements. can you imagine 1999 and WDC rearranged as jazz songs?
let's pray that ain't the case.

i didn't think there was any doubt. look at the promotional pic. the style, the band photograph.

I hope he doesn't think that shit is going to work @ Glastonbury (IF it happens). They dig a good musician, no doubt, but if you headline you have to be awsome and long, jazzy jams & instumentals (however good they are) does not a headline act make. it's going to be interesting.

I wouldn't mind if it is. I'd like to see his stageshow be something totally different than what we're used to.

But has it been CONFIRMED that this will be the swan song for his classic material? I haven't heard anything from CC or NPGMC to this effect.

wouldn't be surprised if it is. as for the whole "last chance to hear the hits live" bit, that seems like a total ploy. y'know months from now ol' boy will be bustin out with that damned hits medley once again...hmm

I beg to differ. I think jazz would go over just fine at Glasonbury. They have never had an act at that festival that even plays in the same league as Prince.

It is left to be seen if the "hits for the last time" is just for Australia or the rest of the world. Considering that Australia hasn't seen him perform in about 10 years, it's not surprising that he plans on performing hits there. For the rest of us that saw him last year, it is quite possible he will switch it up.

Wasn't "1999" retired once and 4 all on Rave Un2 The year 2000? I can't imagine him playing that track ever again.

I'm not saying they wouldn't dig Jazz. but they got themselves a Jazz Stage, so they wouldn't want Prince on the Main Sunday night slot doing the Jazz routine.

Look back to recent years, Bowie (none of that recent Drum & Bass shit, pure Spiders From Mars / Alladin Sane (sp) ), Rod Stewart (Pure Rod the mod, The Small Faces, not his recent Old Blue Eye's tribute.)

Although i respect Prince's new direction, IF he does glastonbury i would actually WANT hit to do The Hits and give the world one last bit of that Purple Magic. i've heard it all before (a dozen times), but this the ONLY time he's got up there on that stage. i'd rather he left a cynical young crowd agasp at how brilliant he can be, than leave them slightly confused - "isn't that the guy that did Gett Off..? Nah, can't be him, this guy is WAYYY to old"

IMO
