From a marketing standpoint, If they use this picture to promote the tour in Australia, us fans are going to have the whole place to ourselves. No casual or curious ticket goer would go to the concert based on that photo.

I bet it will be the front cover of the tour booklet.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if P used it in his next CD artwork.

I love Prince, I have been a fan since 1983. Of all the hundreds of photos that I have seen of Prince, this has got to be the worst. I e-mailed PP9 over at the other site and told them. I hope he doesnot put this photo on a cd, booklet or even send it to family members.

Are we sure this isn't a picture of a Vegas impersonator?

I love the suit but the pout is silly and self-absorbed.

All in all, I kind of dig Prince's new vibe..sort of a combination of Frank Sinatra/ Satchmo/ Prince. As a man who is now 45 he must be looking for a persona that coincides with his obvious increasing sense of maturity (not the same as old).
He seems classier, yet still cool as a mofo. Sure, it's not the prince of old, but trying to maintain that image in 2003 and at middle age would be horrific.

I think there's a little bit too much analysis going on around here. He's Prince, he's a star, he's had a history of being huge and eccentric, so why can't he do whatever the hell he wants in a photo? It's his own image that he's playing around with, let him have fun with it!

but they (Clearchannel / prince) are advertising the gigs as 'see the hits live', so it's safe to assume their targetting the non-fan masses. Therfore the photo is way too serious. It doesn't scream out 'live etravaganza', 'the purple king is in town, check it out..', 'see prince half naked shag his microphone stand and then grind the female dancer..'

not hating on Prince, just pointing out the picture as a marketing tool could be better.

i think it's sad that the classy, elegant look of Prince circa 2002 is slowly devolving into the trashy, scary look of circa 1994
