GINA GERSHON WAS SUPPOSED TO BE APPOLONIA IN THE NEW ISSUE OF "THE ADVOCATE", GINA SAYS THAT SHE WAS IN TALKS WITH PRINCE TO DO PURPLE RAIN BUT HE KEPT TALKING ABOUT HER CHANGING HER NAME SO SHE WALKED AWAY FROM IT.

Gina Gershon is a terrific actress and hot but she would've been totally wrong for the part of Apollonia, imo.
The role of Apollonia needed that aura of a ditzy airheaded easily pushed around dishrag and Gina naturally exudes a more authoritative, strong vibe that I think would've come through even had she portrayed a wimpass such as Apples. | |

Apollonia was all wrong for the part of Apollonia. it should have been Gina Gershon that played her, all smart and sexy, thereby actually giving her some character, instead of the female lead role being relegated to little more than wallpaper, which is how it turned out. | |
