That editing/shortening some of the videos doesn't help one understand what's going on.
But it's a love story. Prince meets Mayte, has doubts, leaves her, has regrets while with another at the drive-in and gets back together with Mayte. The happy end. And then the name-change was sorta added at the end, I suppose. It certainly comes across as an afterthought.   FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Well, I didn't say the video was genius, just that he was one. I think the music is great but the video made me laugh, scratch my head and shake my head, as well as tap my toes! I think it's just really nuts! I want to show it to my P-hating mates and freak them out. If I start the tape from Cairo, when they see Mayte taking a bath, they'll think I'm showing them a bluey and then when the symbol turns up, they'll flip! I really liked the '3 Chains O Gold' video.It attempts to explain the album in more detail,with big,flashy,expensive music videos pieced together to form a mini-movie.Admittedly,the storyline isn't very strong but the videos are top-notch.
Unlike the 'Graffiti Bridge' movie (which is really just a bad,long-form music video),'Three Chains O Gold' has great songs,killer performances and exciting footage. | |

It was originally gonna be a video version of the album, with
the extra segues put back in and videos made for every track. Unfortunately it was only 2/3rds completed before Prince changed his mind/got bored with it/changed his name. So he assembled the existing video out of the completed footage and included some extra interview stuff, and that's what was released. | |

I liked it a lot. I loved the look of Prince´s world at that time, the songs are great and the movie just looks fantastic. See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star... |
