P.S. Also, aside from Wasted Kisses, Come On was the highlight of the Newpower Soul album for me, and I think The Love We Make is a o(+> classic on par with 7.

So good choices there, I think.

P.P.S.: Also, Don't Play Me was one of the three songs on The Truth that I actually liked (the others being Comeback and Welcome 2 The Dawn), so... Another acceptable choice.

I give the track listing a positive cheer and am looking forward to its release.

Pink Cashmere is the odd choice here, since it was not only released as Prince (like the Come tracks), but also part of The Hits, which served in many ways as a completion of the first 15 years of 'Prince' - not to mention it was recorded in 1988...

I agree. Rather odd choice. He should include the original version of Zannalee instead - if for no other reason than to please ME. lol

A new "BEST SONGS" package is expected to be released by Prince / prince, and will be promoted by a WORLDWIDE TOUR.

It will be available as two separate CDs, "Prince - BEST SONGS" and "prince - BEST SONGS." CD 1 tracklisting is not yet available. CD 2 tracklisting is expected to be as follows:

COME
ENDORPHINMACHINE
SPACE
PINK CASHMERE
SLEEP AROUND
DAYS OF WILD
COME ON
THE RIDE
DON'T PLAY ME
eye HATE U
eye LOVE U, BUT eye DON'T TRUST U ANYMORE
BEAUTIFUL STRANGE
EMPTY ROOM
DOLPHIN
THE LOVE WE MAKE
COMEBACK

For members of the NPGMC, there is expected to be an exlusively available 3CD package, the 3rd disc containing 'BEST OUTTAKES.'

Interesting, yet the tracklisting for the 0+> songs makes no sense. Come, Space, and Pink Cashmere were released before the name change, and Come On, while released during the Symbol era, was officially credited to New Power Generation (never mind that it's hardly his best).

Come and Space were released on "Come" in August 1994 and Pink Cashmere was released on "The Hits" Box Set in September 1993. Prince announced his name change on June 7, 1993.

True, but Come and Space were on Prince's "final" album.

Correct? Doesn't matter. I'll believe it when I own it.

That was always confusing. Prince's 'final' release was actually The Vault wasn't it? I'm with you - when I have it, it'll be real.

In my experience, Anji usually knows exactly what he's
talking about and doesn't just go round spreading some
rumour.

So, yeah, I'm willing to believe that he got this info
from some source and that it's probably very close to
the real thing.

Besides, with Prince you never know. Things that were on
the Warners release-schedule would get dropped or changed
at the last minute, so why should now be any different?

I'm looking forward to that possible outtakes disc. That
would be great.

The most likely reason for the Come and Hits songs to have
been included on the o+> album is that there simply isn't
enough room on a single PRINCE best of album to include all
of those as well.

And since they were released post June 7th 1993, they would
in some strange world indeed belong to the o+> output rather
than the Prince catalogue.

I think these are indeed some of prince 's best songs. Would make a great best off compilation for those who don't know these songs. Whether it is true? That's another question.

Love the songs on the alleged disc 1, except that I wouldn't put Sexy dancer, Venus de Milo, Power fantastic, if I was your girlfriend and The ladder on it. Some of those were already on The HITS. I would replace them with Why you wanna treat me so bad, Girls and Boys, We can funk (87 version), The Cross and Free. Also, the sequence isn't right. All the up tempo songs come first and then come all the ballads.

I suggest this:

D.M.S.R.
WHY YOU WANNA TREAT ME SO BAD?
LET’S WORK
FREE
COMPUTER BLUE
THE BEAUTIFUL ONES
SOMETIMES IT SNOWS IN APRIL
GIRLS AND BOYS
HOUSEQUAKE
THE BALLAD OF DOROTHY PARKER
JOY IN REPETITION (87 VERSION)
WE CAN FUNK (87 VERSION)
THE CROSS
ADORE
LOVESEXY
ANNA STESIA

This sounds like the biggest pile of shit ever. If it does prove to be true, i definitely wont be joining NPGMC again. Where the F is the new album? And what kind of "Best songs" (the worst greatest hits title ive ever heard) compilation would include Sexy Dancer, Venus De Milo, Lets Work, and a whole bunch of stuff on the Hits albums. Some of the said songs are IMO some of his weakest.

"Best songs" and "greatest hits" are two entirely different things. Being a hit doesn't automatically make a song good and require their inclusion on a "best of..."

A LOT of what I consider Prince's best songs were indeed not hits, like The Beautiful Ones and Power Fantastic, but their inclusion on a "best of..." is valid.

That's purely a matter of opinion and taste. I doubt any two fans would compile an identical "best of..." CD.

I think the track list presented by Anji is just fine.

I'm just hoping that we aren't talking re-recorded versions with censored lyrics and what have we.

And if Computer Blue happened to be one of the previously unreleased, longer versions, I most certainly wouldn't be complaining. pray

Why?

confuse

Is that Prince's birthday? Does that mean he's a JW no more and is now celebrating such things again?

Or is that the date of release? But that's almost a year away.

Some questions:

When will this be released?

Are the songs re-recorded or remastered?

If not, how did Prince get the rights to repackage them?

What's up with the outtakes disc?

Who/What is the source of your information?

Maybe Prince feels these are his best songs, if this is indeed true. I won't believe any of it until I see confirmation on his site, but the again, I won't believe it til I see it with my own eyes.

True. But the whole point of a best of, greatest hits...whatever, is to provide some kind of coherent retrospective of an artist. The selection of songs, the tracklisting, the whole point of it, is random and incoherent to say the least.

If its gonna be a best of, why not let the music club members (those people who have forked out money for nothing thus far) choose the tracks?

I would rather see Crystal Ball II, or a new album. Im confused for the simple reason that Prince never wanted to release his first greatest hits (which I actually thought was put together very well...bar all the edits), so why is he wasting his time putting out another one? None of us would choose this over an outtakes / unreleased compilation, nor a brand spanking new album.

If this does happen it would cap whats has been the worst year in the release of prince music since 1993 or 1983...oh, okay, I get it now.
