I can't see Prince doing a tour where he plays all of his old hits. Unless he is seriously strapped for cash it would go against everything he's been saying these last few years. That was then, this is now, you know?

I can see this making sense if the Hall of Fame thing does indeed happen. Artists get a lot of attention when inducted and it wouldn't hurt to play along. Plus, if he's got some kind of hits package ready to go, that might help too. Something classic that new fans or folks who have drifted away from Prince can sink their teeth into. But for most Prince fans, I think this is a step backwards. The Celebration 2002 and ONA tour were a vast improvement on the Hit N Run style shows he'd been doing for the previous 5 years.

His major hits include 1999, Let's Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, Kiss and Purple Rain. "

If this is really happening, well that`s
great for the people in Australia, isn`t it?
I have Prince seen in concert many times since
1992. And also before. So i would say the people
down under deserve to see him again. Congratulations!

I`m sure that - not matter what music he`s gonna choose
to play - you`ll get to see great concerts.
I have never seen a bad Prince gig. Never.
Some were better than others, that`s all.
So let him play When doves cry. That`s a cool song.
If he really said he will incorporate his classic material,
well what does that mean? Does it mean he`s not
going to play some new instrumentals?
No it does not.
Greetings to the people of Australia. Have fun.

I think if he'd really do a greatest hits tour again, he will rearrange the oldies to keep things interesting for himself (and the diehard fans!). He'll probably jazz them up a little.

I for one wouldn't mind a jazzed up greatest hits tour. Prince is a great live performer no matter which songs he plays!

Let this World Tour begin! And I am happy for you Australians that he visits you first this time. you have been waiting long enough after all...
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

cool - sounds like he's going to make the most of the hype around the hall of fame induction after all. Between that and the anniversary of Purple Rain, Prince has a shot to become relevant again if he wants to.

It's in the message boards at NPGMC, so it's confirmed. One date in Hong Kong on 10/17 and a mention of Australian dates to follow.

true...hopefully this won't be one of those 'hit & run'-type deals, y'know...the brotha's musical repetoire is much larger than the hits alone.
