any of u musicial masterminds out there know if prince holds the record of consecutive years of top ten hits in both the us and the uk? i have been looking at various books and i cant see anyone else apart from maybe madonna, she has had almost all top ten hits since 1984 til 2000 but she had a blank year in 1988 in the uk.prince had an unbroken run of top tens every year from 1983 til 1994 in the us and from 1984 til 1995 in the uk...

It would seem from your own post that Madonna is the record holder. But then there's Elvis and Elton John who may have had a better run. Not sure.

No, I don't think it's Prince
I know Lionel Richie wrote a number one song in America every year for about 12 years
Also, Paul Mcartney would have had a hit every year in America from about 1964 to the late-eighties

If I recall correctly,Prince has had at least one Top 10 hit every year from 1983-1992.I'm not sure if any other artist has broken that record.

How many years has Madonna had at least 1 Number ONE hit in the past years on all the charts? At least 13. She has between 35-50 top ten singles worldwide.

it was common knowledge in 1995 that Prince was trying to break the record with Eye Hate U. A record he shared at the time with Ringo Starr, not Paul McCartney. And Eye Hate U would have gone top 10 had WB not screwed up. In many places, it went on sale a day or two early. Thus sales that should have all counted in a single week ended up being split between two weeks.

As far as I know, Prince still holds the record. I'm not sure from what's been posted here why Paul McCartney wouldn't hold the record. At the time, It thought it was said he didn't have a top 10 hit his first post beatles year. Is the list being posted here for him the year of release, or the year charting in the top 10?

How come the song "Jet" isn't on that list? Wasn't that a Top 10 hit as well? It's my favorite Paul McCartney and Wings track.
