'Empty Room', '1999', and Johnny Cash.

I got to hear the song 'Empty Room' for the first time when i got hold of 'The Celebration 2002' recently.
I realise now what all the fuss is about. This has to be the best song he has yet to officially release.

I almost would prefer him not to release it than he release it on a 4CD collection (e.g. Crystal Ball). A gem like that shouldn't be lost among a mass of mediocrity.

Secondly, has anyone else noticed how much Prince screams during the '1999' lp? Damn. Was he possesed during the recording of this!?

And finally, i've only recently seen the video for the late Johnny Cash's 'Hurt'. If you haven't, see it. It will send tingles down your spine.

Sorry if this is a very random post, but i'm a very random person.
"London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

He is screaming his frustration out on "Something In The Water", just like he also do on "The Beautiful Ones" and "Temptation" and so on.
I like it when he screams. It is heartfelt passion that seems to be lacking from the majority of his work following WB.
"Da Bang" on Crystal Ball surprised me in a good way because at that time I thought his screaming was a thing of the past, but he still had it in him.

I guess I just plain like it when artists get so caught up in expressing their emotions that it turns into screaming. Because I also like it when Steven Tyler and Marilyn Manson screams.

But I still think Prince is/was the best screamer. He is good at that when it gets into him. He's got the voice for it, I guess.

"1999" is a tortured album at quite a few points. Prince reveals a lot in that album.

That is true. I wish he had remained that honest when writing lyrics. Music created from the heart by maybe not the best musician in the world always beats music created as work by however good an artist, I think. And I think that is the difference between the WB Prince and the emancipated Prince - he was a songwriter that earned money and became a musician working for money. (Or somesuch.)
