You know it's really a sad commentary on Prince's part that we fans go crazy when a boots of videos and movies and stuff are readily available like this.

I'd love to see these DVD's but I get simply angry at Paisley Park for not listening to Prince fans.

One thing though, is that ya'lls gave me an idea...just get the laserdiscs a laserdisc player and a DVD recorder. Simple.

I'm planning on getting the DVD recorder to transfer lots of video I have.

It's hard to sit on the fence about this one & the issue of bootlegs. But what's a Prince fan supposed to do ? Prince seems to have no intention of rereleasing any of this stuff that's been released on the Brave label.

So some entreupenial Prince fans decide to use the latest technology & release it & make it available to longtime loyal fans & newbies alike. The only bad thing is they're probably making a ton of money that should be going to Prince himself.

So on that note, I can hardly wait for my next batch of Brave DVDs! mr.green

This was brought up in a previous thread, but I think it is worth mentioning. I don't think Prince is involved in the BRAVE releases, but I do believe he had something to do with bootlegging. Whether it be turning his head or slipping material to certain people. What other artist has such quality & quantity of bootlegged material? Look at the Sabatoge and Thunderball stuff..it's beautiful. Where do all of these pictures come from too? I think the NPGMC was an attempt to put him in control of the botlegs. He would then be able to get out the non-album tracks and live material he wanted (and that mean old WB would never let him) and all the money would come direct to him. We easily pay $20-$40 for a bootleg- why not pay Prince $100 or $25 for a subscription to get it directly from the man? He's got to know that for many, many of us, the interest in him has been fueled by bootleg material. I'd love to get the real story one day. I bet it is quite twisted.

I remember feeling this way around the Black Album era...like it was a contrast thing with Lovesexy. The darkness of the BLack ALbum made it even more interesting and fascinating against the officially released Lovesexy.

I've always wondered if some stuff was release as a rebelious act towards...

Anyway, so, I haven't seen to many Sabatoge and Thunderball, are there photos used you've never seen before on the covers and stuff?

From what I've seen, they at least have really good Graphic Designers who are fans, so maybe that's why they look so good.

Obviously, some fans are doing this especially it the stuff it really good quality. I imagine a geek-like fascintation drives this stuff...and profit. I'd feel guilty doing that. It's like designing for cigarette companies and the like.

anyone had trouble playin these on their DVD players??? I have UTCM, Lovesexy, Promo Vids and recently got the Undertaker. They played fine for the first week or so, but now they won't play well or some don't even play at ALL!!!
My player seems to be fine...it still plays other DVD's, it's just these BRAVE label ones seem to be self destructing...any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had problems as well!!! and i have a brand NEW DVD player, not a cheap one and CD-R+ playable; had to send back Beautiful Strange to swap it for SOTT coz it kept on beeing "stuck" after the interview; First Avenue is fine though; and now i just got ONA in Japan and it doesn't play AY ALL;

I'd love to know who you're getting these bad copies from, because I know FOR FACT, you ain't getting them from the originators. And I know they don't even have the First Avenue DVD. So if this person you've gotten them from has an email "JUST4U" I can tell you, he is selling you bad/fake copies. They ain't originals. So I hope people are cautious.

Well to squash the flames, there isn't a "Web Site" and Brave isn't a "Bootleg Record Label", they don't do any audio boots, it's simply fans putting stuff together mainly for themselves, but doing it in a professional quality, why go halfway, when you can do it your best!

prince really has nothing to do with the bootlegs... even though they are often better art directed then his official stuff.

Ok, it's been confirmed, I think the major source of the "Bad Discs" that I've seen people complaining about are coming from a Euro dealer named "Just4U" (Jeroen), who is selling bad copies. He is obviously trying to duplicate them himself, and is doing so on bad/cheap media and doesn't know what he's doing since a lot of people seem to have problem with various discs he's selling, be it Brave DVD's or other releases like the ONA Japan disc or the 1st Ave. disc. So watch it if you know him or see him offering them, they aren't from the sources.

This question may get me smacked off this site, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. What's the use of discussing boots' if you're not allowed to tell someone who may want to see them where in the hell to find'em? I don't have any, and don't have a clue where they can be found. Who or what is Brave? What's up?...Talk to me...

On the last menu, at the bottom there is an "eye" like the one on the artwork. click on that and you will get another menu with all the videos you mentioned.

The Laser Disc video quality is between VHS and DVD.
