PS: You just know that Prince will use this opportunity in
the spotlight to alienate himself further still from what
little is left of his fanbase. He will probably slag off
the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame institution, all the artists in
it, all the voters, women gays and atheists in particular
and to make matters even worse, he will have taken a vow
of silence and let Larry do the talking.

Perhaps to lighten up the speech they could throw in that
atheist joke about being "dressed up with nowhere to go",
or a nice little story about ChristMess.

Looking at the R&R HOF history, they're definitely not going to take one of those teenyboppers to induct the man. These names sound plausible to me...

Joni Mitchell
Lenny Kravitz
Beck
Santana
Mick Jagger
George Clinton
George Michael
Madonna

Michael Jackson would be nice but the man can't speech...
Sly Stone... does anyone even know how he feels about P?

Please no Larry inducting P...
Please no cryptic speech with P reciting bible passages and saying things like "Hall of Fame... Hall... Kingdom Hall... the taurus... someone lied, people... study the bible!"

I'd rather have a heartfelt speech in plain english with P thanking his heroes and his former and current band members. For reference, see Bruce Springsteens induction speech from 1996? where he also called the entire E Street Band to the stage.

I think James Brown or Ray Charles a real classic should do the offering. Please no Larry Graham, he would try to take the spot lite away from Prince and it would turn a special event into a ruined event. Like, pass the buckets please.

Jam & Lewis would be great, better yet, Jam & Lewis and the original members of The Time could induct Prince. That would kick ass! headbang biggrin

NOT: A delegation of org and amp diehards. I can hear the speech now. "For his great, famous accomplishents, like Roadhouse Gardens and Flesh we are willing to forgive Prince for releasing A BRUTALLY BUTCHERED VERSION of Purple Rain and present him with this award, which is just a watered down, diluted and commercialized version anyway of the ORIGINAL award, which no-one has seen but us. Even though he's not a really great guitarist or something. And we hate his preaching. And his latest albums. Also we'd like to add that anyone who thinks this is a great moment is a suck-ass fam and this award is just about the money anyway. Still, without Prince, there would have been no Turn It Up 2.0 or Uptown and for that we are eternally, be it grudgingly, grateful. Oh and finally, we've had the unedited rehearsals for this ceremony on video for ages and they're far superior to this official version. Thank you."

James Brown just don't dig prince in a personal kinda way. he may say he respects him musically in an interview, and he has, but he clearly prefers MJ, at least in the 80's rivalry. Plus JB is so embarassing to listen to, I just heard him on Stern, it'd make it more of a mockery than prince's anticipated speech.

I agree, no neo-sld artists like Musiq, d'angelo(does he speak?), any Root, etc etc

I'd like to see Erykah, maybe Alicia or Nikka Costa...I know, i know but they are very talented and prince inspired, especially Nikka who deserves more exposure for that amazing album!

Carlos Santana would be cool for prince, and he has jammed with prince, so there's some legitimacy there.

Personally, I'd love to see Bob Dylan, another Minnesotan recluse!

Ah well, I'm bored of my post already
