Anxiety

I dig on this album quite a bit - I think it's highly uneven and deeply flawed, but sometimes the shortcomings make me like it even more.

Its just a fun little throwaway album. Those who don't like it mis-interpret what music is supposed to be. Namely Fun.

Sure, certain takes like I Rock Therefore I Am are awful, and its never going to reach the musical heights of SOTT, but at least it rocks a little bit. Every album don't need to be a masterpiece to be good.

CHEERS 2 THAT. Spin magazine listed it as one of the Top Ten albums that U Didn't Hear when it was released. They said something along the lines that if any newcomer released an album with that much "trash guitar" it'd be a huge hit.

I like "Eye Rock Therefore Eye Am" - it's far from my favorite track on the album, and if I had to choose one song to remove, it would probably be that one...but it doesn't send me racing across the room for the "skip" button and if it weren't for the typically crap guest rappers, it could be a sweet little ditty...

I enjoy this album. I like 8 of the tracks a great deal, 1 is ok, and the other 2 are among my least favorite Prince songs.

Chaos is just an example of how Prince could have made a really Great album. It all sounds so rushed and done with. My take is that if he'd spent real time and effort on this album at least half the time he spent on Emancapation, he could have really came up with something great. I like the album because it's sub par and I think about how it could have really fits into his catalog.
Peace,
CARMY

I really like this album, I always think it is totally under-rated by fans. Everybody knew it was supposed to be a contract-filler throwaway by Prince even before it came out, and that has tainted it's reputation ever since, but as a throwaway it's better than many other artists best work! I reckon the songs are the equal of plenty of other Prince songs and if they'd turned up on Emancipation or something everybody would be saying how cool they were.

"All we are say-ing, is give Chaos and Disorder a chance..."

"CHAOS" is by far my favorite of his 90s albums, even tho' "I Rock Therefor I Am" shoulda been a b-side, and "Dig U Better Dead" sounds like it belongs on a sequel 2 "The Black Album".

PRINCE plays searing guitar all over the title track, "I Like It There", Same December" and "Zannalee" - those 4 cuts and "Dinner With Delores" make this a must-have 4 those Prince fans out there who love his guitar playing.

Those who strictly prefer Prince's bass and snare drum funk, find it hard 2 accept, but that's cool, 2 each their own.

Also, if "The Undertaker" VHS had been officially released on CD, it would also be right up there with CHAOS & DISORDER.

Peace,

Ronny,

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA.
