What happened on stage? Hi,
have u ever listened to an instance during a bootleged recording of a Prince performance and wondered what was actually happening on stage? share an example where u heard a audio version before u eventaually got to see a video copy of the same performance For Instance, Whilst listening to a copy of the Paisley park studios New years eve 1987 show, during the jam of 'Its gonna be a beautiful night', Prince is heard to say "A'int playing shit". Without visual accompanyment, i always interpreted this as prince expressing how funky his band were (in that, the groove was so stripped down at that point and yet sounded so good). However, upon obtaining a video copy of this show it was revealed to me that Prince was actually reffering to the lack of sound comming from the synth he was trying to play on. or perhaps people could ask questions about instances on audio bootlegs which other orgers have in a visual format or actually attended the event. You do as I say

When he did "Purple Rain" during the 1st Avenue show in '83, I wondered what he was doing during the long intro. It was interesting 2 see that at one point he was going 2 start singing the first verse, and suddenly pulled away from the mic. I guess he needed one more measure of music before he was really ready 2 sing something rather emotional. Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

On the SOTT For Those Of You ON Valium show--I have the boot ( top 5 btw) and in the begining whrere he is introducing the band..I alays thought he was just standin there cool n collective...years later I got the video and I see he is in the Lovesexy polka dot suit that he described...and that he is siting down acting a fool at times during the intro lol..then when I head him do Strange Relationship (top 2 version) I pictured him standing at the mic doin whatever...but the vid shows he was and is at the keyboards lit up. "Climb in my fur."
