Funny you should name Neon Rendezvous tracks. I pulled that boot out of my huge collection the other day for the first time in years and I was blown away by the guitar work. I forgot how much he rocked on that and it was only a rehearsal! Good list

1 - "Just My Imagination" - Live at 't Paard

2 - "Just My Imagination" - Live at Camden Palace

(These have the best solo's that are easily obtainable)

3 - Pick any rehearsal from his entire career...

He has done at least one mindblowing killer guitar solo per tour rehearsal...
Some say "Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)" from his 1984 birthday rehearsal (true, the man was on point that morning)...
Some say a battle between Dez and Prince at some "Controversy"/"1999" rehearsal...
Some say (and I might agree with this one) a hauntingly beautiful slow improv from a 1991 rehearsal, haven't got a clue what the song is, probably nothing, but he was aching that day (or, as he usually is, bored out of his skull and trying to amuse himself)...
Some say the "Rock/Jazz Jam" he did at a "Lovesexy" soundcheck he did in LA (also agreed, that was back when he actually had a band that could REALLY break into some good jazz)...
But these aren't commonly known and afaik not available on boots, save for "Something In The Water"...

The Ride solo from 94 or 95 Paisley aftershow. It was on Mayte's birthday.

Dolphin, simple, but oh so sweet. Remember, it always comes down to the song itself.

Extended solo on Computer Blue long version.

"Dolphin" is IMHO the best song Prince has released under the prince monniker, just like "When Doves Cry" is IMO the best released popsong ever by any artist... Sheer genius, both of 'em...

Purple Rain (World Tour 1985, video)

Soul Sacrifice (Tour 1994)

But thera are a lot of incredible solos more.

I would ask the same question but the person that made the battle comment actually made one that is so wrong (about the Lovesexy band being one that could do jazz when his current band is obviously his best jazz unit) that I decided that it is bullshit.
