But if I had to make a single disc of the CD,I would choose these ten songs...
"Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" "Emale" in case you didn't know,I LOVE that song so much...lol

DavidEye said: Some of you are saying that the album should have been trimmed down to a single disc.I think it should have been edited down into a stunning 2-CD set,as there are about 12 tracks that just don't measure up.When you get rid of crap like "We Gets Up","Style",the lame title track and the four remakes, you are left with a kickass double album that (almost) rivals 'SOTT'.
... [This message was edited Wed Sep 10 6:29:00 PDT 2003 by DavidEye] for those of you who say to cut the album down - why do i get the feeling you'd be the first to want to get a bootleg of the stuff he shelved . . . he nipped that in the bud and just put it on the album this time. ultimately what the fans WANTED anyway. just a thought . . . music is its own reward - Sting

Great album. Sleep Around, Joint 2 Joint, My Computer, Soul Sanctuary, White Mansion, In This Bed I Scream, The Love We Make & Dreamin' About U are among my very favourite songs of his.

On the whole, I like all 3 cd's, however I do agree that there are a few songs that are not so great. I love cd 2 the most, but I hate the first 3 songs on cd 3. Cd 1 is pretty good too except for one or two songs.

Varied in content it might well be but you can't tell me 'Emancipation' is not drenched in the same production values all the way through. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Of course, I meant capable in the loosest sense of the word

Granted. But his albums all hang together with the same production values apart from Crystal Ball & The Vault which are compilations.

Must be why I love those two albums so much... giotto said: Varied in content it might well be but you can't tell me 'Emancipation' is not drenched in the same production values all the way through.
Precisely what's so annoying about the whole set. You can argue that "his albums all hang together with the same production values" but not to the aggravating extent of "Emancipation." The Normal Whores Club

I agree that there are a lot of songs on the compliation that I just don't like. However, the majority of it is exceptional.
Especially CD 2. I've had to buy Emancipation at least three times to replace disc 2 and one time, because my husband stole disc 3 and he doesn't even like Prince. All I can say is, this set has something for everyone. **************************************************

Emanicipation is easily his weakest title song ever. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

Prince on autopilot. Most of the songs start with the title, which annoys the hell out of me.
30% of it is great though.

This topic is done to death (along with "Edit Emancipation down to one CD"), nobody ever agrees on which are the good/bad songs so just as well we got them all to choose from.

I'm saying that it is one of his least varied albums. It just lacks extremes, and because it's a 3cd set, it really ought to to have been more eclectic musically. The Gold Experience was much more varied than Emancipation and that was only 1 disc. Nothing on Emancipation rocks as hard as Endorphinmachine, nothing funks as hard as Now, none of the ballads on it are quite as good as I Hate U or Shy, and one of my favorite tracks on Emancipation (Somebody's Somebody) is actually a left over from the Gold Experience era. I do actually like most of the tracks on Emancipation, it's just as an album, it doesn't hold my attention half as much as most of Prince's others.

We can all argue and say how we could have edited Emancipation, but the bottom line is we're just fans!
All I know is that my favorite Artist gave me 3 cd's of new music and I'm thankful. Emancipation the album rates fair but, Emancipation the ACT is worth all the glory.Ask Prince how he feels about being free to record and release whatever he wants. Prince has paid dues for his artistic freedom which he gets no credit for from the Industry AND THAT SAYS WHAT? Long live PRINCE the KING is dead. Peace, Carmy

If you go to the Liberty Fair Mall in Martinsville Va, the 3cds are on sale in the record store for $9.99!!! I think I spent three times that amount on it.
