Thanx Joshy 4 u're hard work in finding this.

Although Im xcited about this, Im just gonna wait until it's in stores (just to see the reaction u get from music store sales staff that u are buying Prince is worth the wait alone...Ah, those days when I was a kid taking Prince LP's and 12" to the counter, some great reations).

They probably just ordered them in bulk from the states.I mean Bathurst? C'mon! A little strange from somewhere so far out?

Sorry Ally85 but Fuck Red Eye!

Red Eye were good up until a point in Prince's career (namely, while he was still with Warner Bros). Once Prince went indi, and his releases were getting delayed locally, Red Eye took it upon themselves to seize the moment and jack up every NPG release for big $.

Whenever Prince releases a CD, they will only ever order 1 or 2, so naturally, they automatically sell out, then make out theres a big demand to justify their price hike.

Also, they have a hundred staff working at any one time, half of them respect Prince and are pretty cool people, the other half won't give you the time of day.

I remember when they played Prince bootlegs ('94 era) as their in store music (this was when they were under the old American Express building, Now NRMA offices) and I acted dumb and said "This music is great, who is this"?

"Ahhh...I can't tell you that"

"Can I have a look at the CD cover"?

"No", before racing out the back, never to be seen again, and funny enough, the music gets changed.

Or the time they told the Prince fans "Bad Luck, Get Fucked"(in a nice way) that they don't sell UPTOWN magazine anymore "It's a waste of money for us, no one reads it or buys it, so we're not going to order it anymore"

I have a million stories of Red Eye and their lack of people skills and customer service when they realise that you are a Prince fan. Those guys really know how to suck the $ out of a Prince fan with no internet access or credit card.

mmhmm. its so true they do try hard to rip people off.

which does suck for the poor souls who dont have net access or credit cards or whatnot. specially as there is so much rare prince stuff out there, and prince stuff in general.

do you know of any good second hand stores in sydney that stock prince stuff? iv looked in utopia and egg records but thats all i know about and i do prefer buying stuff from stores rather than the internet.

U'd have more of a chance on the net then to find a store. Most 2nd hand stores just keep the official releases, but if u go "digging", every now and again something turns up.
Do Utopia stock anything Prince? I thought they just done metal stuff. Haven't heard of Egg. Maybe Oxford St or Newtown 2nd hand stores may have hidden treasures, but for Red Eye, 4get it.

So true! Some pretend not to notice, but you can tell they're smirkin' at you when they go out the back! Others say something stupid like "Prince...? Did you know he wrote that song for Sinaed O'Connor?"

I already got the DVD from the club. I'm going overseas soon, so I couldn't be bothered waiting for an Aussie release.

hey dna...Egg records in sydney have alot of Prince maxi-singles & vinyls (maxi-singles i found were Space,Letitgo, among others)
(well they did back in april when i was there.down the bottom of Pitt St & also another store there)
altho the Space maxi-single @ $35... i dont think they woulda sold out already.

Utopia is that huge store in George St isnt it?

they have Prince stuff.
i picked up the first 3 albums there cuz i couldnt find them anywhere in Adelaide back then.

they're worth looking in but RedEye,Egg...theyre the ones 2 really check out (just b prepared 2 pay $$)

for just regular album releases? JB Hi-Fi have a huge stock of stuff like GB,Lovesexy & Prince in adelaide.

i love JB now.they even have the live boxset on the shelves right next2 Mr Presley smile

Thanx mate, and likewise 2 all u other Aussie guys n' gals out there.

All this record store (wrecka stow) talk, made me think back 2 1987 and Brashs (yeah, those dodgy bastards), and me asking what PRINCE's next album was and when it was coming out? They said the only info they had @ that stage was teh word "BLACK", needless 2 say, I had goosebumps, we all know what happened after that.

As 4 REDEYE, I did score a copy of Jesse Johnson's "Bare My Naked Soul" from them on 1 of my trips down 2 Sydney (great city by the way, u peops know how 2 party).

Anyway, in my stubborness, I ordered my copy of "LIVE in VEGAS" from cduniverse.com (along with N.E.W.S. and 3 other CDs) and they arrived 2day (Glodbal Priority). FEDex is always quicker, but more expensive. I've been doing this since 1998 when I went online, and have never looked back. HMV will sometimes stock good U.S. r&b imports, but 4 the most part, I go it alone. Music stores r pretty much just 4 browsing nowadays.

p.s. If any of u down south r ever in town (GOLD COAST), give us a yell...

Later...RON.

derek

It's good 2 see all the Aussie peeps in the one thread...hello all!

Red Eye was great for us Sydneysiders back in the day...it all exploded Easter '92 when the man himself was in town - on the front page of the papers - and Red Eye jacking the price of his 12" UK picture discs through the roof smile

You know, $50 for the new DVD i might even pay cuz i can't be stuffed ordering online and waiting for it...
oralI sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth oral
