nothing wrong with the dvd video

why do people lie and say the dvd viewing is bad. i found nothing wrong with this dvd except i wish he would have done more songs. but prince has toned down an awful lot,i guess he is getting older,he is more smooth and less energetic.great music but on the fred astair tip 2 me.he still can get funky just not jumping off pianos anymore. i wish he would have done some emancipation and more trc. other than that dont belive the hype, the dvd is very very viewable and i give the concert an 8 or 9 just should have added more songs.and a question how do i get the bonus track 2 play on my dvd. i have no remote 4 it what can i do ?

Depending on you controls..trythe skip button till it lights up the "The Ride", then push play.

I agree with your opinon on this. The quality, at least to me, is pretty darn good. Song selection: Well, I would've preferred a different set list as well. Overall I like it. The Nikka Costa performance I really could've done without though. shrug

I agree, I feared the worst reading the first reviews, but the DVD is pretty decent. Maybe not the best video and audio quality (technically speaking) but still much better than your average bootleg video and the performances are tight!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

That's the problem; you should not be forced to compare an official release with an "average bootleg". Besides the audio and video quality the still pictures between songs ruin it for me. Also, why would he put the still pictures at the beginning of the songs so when you skip ahead to a new song you are forced to sit through the stills before the music begins?

I also made the mistake of watching it right after viewing Bruce Springsteen: Live in New York, which is of perfect quality ,both audio and visual, so it made Prince's video look even worse.

People lie on this site because they are complaining assholes. There is nothing wrong with the DVD except for the fact that it is to short.

Perhaps Prince did not think it would sell and did want to invest the money into that he could have.
In addition, I think people are forgetting that Prince is footing the bill for these projects not a major record label or cable company.
Prince is not Bruce Springsteen who by the has not sold a lot of records since 1984 but, no one brings that up.

Co-sign.

People should not surrender their standards for any artist, no matter how much of a fan they are, or have been.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

If you cannot see that the quality is poor on the DVD something is wrong with your eyes.

Well since 1984 Bruce has sold upwards of 50 million albums so why would they bring it up that he hasn't sold any albums since 84? The live set sold more copies then Purple Rain for the love of God.

I watched it again and enjoyed the DVD from start to finish. At first the camera angles bothered me, but when I viewed it with the idea of them trying to set a mood, it wasn't all that bad.

Ok I took the dvd 2 a couple of friends and was amazed 2 find that the quality looked different on each player. On one u could see the pixels and it looked quite poor and on the other it looked perfect. Must be the type of equipment its played on. On mine its somewhere in between. Funny cos the cheaper the player the better it played.

I agree, I like it. But then, I personally couldn't give a rat's ass about video quality. Hey, I grew up watching the same deteriorating VHS tapes over and over! Also (dare I say it?) staring at a screen for 80 minutes is long enough imho.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the DVD. After reading reviews I was expecting the worst, but even tought I agree that the picture quality is far from the best, musically IMO it's a great show.
I think it also flows well as it is edited, but honestly I miss two or three more songs (especially SOTT and Days of Wild, they're not on the ONAL Box, so I don't know why!).
Just my opinion.

There is nothing wrong with my eyes. I just do not think the picture is as bad as some people are making it out to be. From reading some of the post on this site you would think there was a big black line running across the screen.
The DVD is not unwatchable. Why can't the performances and the music be judged on its on.

Don't you think that Prince has sold about 50 million albums all total.

My point is that Prince and Bruce Springsteen both sold a shit load of records in 1984. Neither one of them has sold a lot of records since then but, no one goes on about Bruce's carreer being over.

Could not have said it better myself. Plenty of people on this site are still looking at those graining bootlegg videos.
