The Anotherloverholenyohead video I just saw this for about the first time in 12 years on VH1 Classic (the best music channel on TV.). It just took me back to when Prince was the unstoppable force of coolness. Let's all reminisce back to when our little purple hero would be one of the few to rock a yellow suit and look cool in it.
On a side note, before the vid came on, the VJ talked about how Eric Clapton is a huge fan of Prince. And they showed an interview clip of him talking about how he and Keith Richards had a long arguement about the validity of Prince's artistry. How dare anyone question or deny the artistic genius of our star? And Keith Richards, of all people? NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Professional jealousy.

Keith would just be upset that P has never become him i.e. sunken in2 drugs and alcohol. So he probably couldn't relate 2 Prince.
He also partially blames Prince's (and MJ's) success in the 80s as a reason 4 Mick pursuing a solo career.

Richards compared Prince to The Monkees. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

That video is so Cool and that song is so Fun! I remember that how Richards didn't like Prince much he said he was Too into the Image. And Jagger made some digs too and you Know what Muffy sAYS THEY SHOULD retire already! I saw them in the 90's and They were Cool now they are just old,in need of Face Lifts and who wants to be at a Concert with my Grandmother? Their fans are OLD!

I just Laugh at all the Weird Posturing that these bandmembers did. Just something about large men feminized and posing looks stupid. Brown Mark looked WEIRD! Mazzaratti looked Weird! Only Prince could Pull Off the Look. Everyone else was Too Big.

Nevertheless, the video was "kickass!". But don't you think some members looked a bit jaded. I don't know, maybe I'm just making assumptions. I was just so happy to see that video today. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I wouldn't be surprised if you were up and danceing when you do watch it. That was the period where I felt that he inspired me the most. That doesn't mean that he's still not a source of inspiration, but in that time, it was very special. For me, at least. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

That is my favorite P video, that was his coolest look.

This was like the ultimate period for me too. And getting a live video back then was like an amazing treat.
I was disheartened to read in "Posessed" that W&L and many members of the Revolution were really p*ssed off then. Regarding Mazerati, were you just talking about them in general, cuz they're not in that video that I recall. I LOOOVE Jerome but those other 2 (Wally and whomever) always annoyed me. And Jerome alwyas had his one electronic drum pad but it never seemed like it was actually hooked up, cuz you never heard any sound when he hit it!

A friend of mine went 2 C Prince at Wembley Arena (Ithink it was 1990) and the Stones were playing the stadium that night. Anyway the Prince fans took a LOT of flak from the Stones fans on the way in. Princes fans were going 'Don't worry, chill. We know who's seeing the best concert!!'

Lisa's piano solo was probably edited for the video.During the Parade tour it was alot longer.

Im not sure you're right about the stones disliking prince. They certainly liked him enough back in the early 80's to have him as a warm up act. I also remember reading an interview with Mick Jagger where he defended singing a song in falsetto by stating that Prince had recorded 4 albums completely in falsetto, and that he thought it was cool.
In fact coming to think of it, quite a few main stream white rock artists have expressed a love for Prince. Paul McCartney, Clapton, Bob Dylan, George Harrison.
