The "I love the new Prince DVD" thread.

I just took one quick glance at someone calling that DVD bland and popped this thread into cyberspace to equal out the feeling...

My favourites are Whole Lotta Love and The Ride. And what excellent faces he makes in The Ride.

I think he is totally exciting. Also, I think he is cleaner in every sense. I think that's what comes across. What is left is his music, he is literally nude now.

Personally, I really dig that. nod

Keep on truckin' Prince. Some of us still love ya! mushy

The show is good, the music is good...but...

,,,this is not the ONA show I saw in London, nor the one I saw on video from New York. In both those shows Prince was so full of life, laughing, joking, ful of energy, but most importantly, full of music. At the London show i think i saw him "dance" once...he did his "Ozzy Osburn?" (who is that Prince?) impression, which was funny...other than that he picked up his guitar and played.

Whole Lotta Love and Family Name were awesome and his solo acoustic guitar selection was sublime...this DVD performance is a little too subdued and then a little too forced - introducing Maceo for Pass the Peas.

That said, I did enjoy this show, just wish it was like the show I saw up close and personal.

Moments can never be recreated - especially when this is something watched on TV and a concert is a concert.

If he had of joked around more people would have only accused him of not playing enough music.

This is a DVD full of excellent music. He's not a stand up comic! Although, he is really funny!

I dig it. Maybe all the criticism and complaints are valid, I dunno. All I know is I've watched it several times over the past week, and it's the most I've watched any "official Prince product" in years.

If on some rational, objective level this DVD is truly crap, then what the hell - I like crap, and I'm proud of it.

I've watched the DVD through twice and I really like it 2. People complain about the picture quality. But hey remember Syracuse 85??
4 half that film it looks like Prince and co are walking through purple fog!!
I don't see a thread on here bitching about that!
Judge the music and performance. There are loads of boots people praise on here where the quality ain't there.
OK fair enough. But 2 be honest I'd rather watch 'Live at the Alladin' than 'Rave Unto The Year 2000' anyday.
Just my 2 pence worth!!!

I just listened to the ONA live, after a long break from it and was astonished about the fact how Prince made such a bad quality product(the dvd,) after this great live CD... The live cd is what the ONA-tour was all about... The dvd is a pale shadow of the actual show... disbelief

just my twocents anyway.

I have to admit that after my first viewing I was left a little hungry for more. The last few songs that flow well together really started to re-evoke the mood at the live shows, but then it just ends with a beautiful rendition of SISIA (that would have been brilliant in “full screen”. Now I love it, the brevity means you don’t need hours free to watch the whole DVD, it’s concise, tight and very entertaining, comically, musically and visually. Highlight has to be Strollin’/You Want Me.

I'm enjoying it...certainly moreso than N.E.W.S, which I'm not sure I can listen to a third time. My god it's dull.

I dig it.

Obviously it is a bit amateur in terms of presentation and production values, but fuck that. The music is great, that's why I like it.

we should keep this simple

1.the performance is great !
2. the set list could have been better !
3. the quality is shit !!!

and no fan should be paying for a dvd that is equivalant to a poor 10th generation vhs copy ! the concert could have been filmed properly just as easy !

no !
