Prince's voice is different because around 1987, he recorded some of his songs with his voice sped up, and credited the vocalist not as Prince, but as "Camille"
Other songs to feature the "Camille" character can be found on the "Sign O The Times" album (songs such as "If I was U're Girlfriend, Strange Relationship, etc), and some unreleased bootlegs. There is a history to all of this LennyKravitz83, and because u are new to Prince u should check it all out. Prince had a Spiritual Struggle with this so called Camille character during "The Black Album, and was part of the rebirth process Prince had with the next Album "Lovesexy" Do look into it. It's a great voice (character)! Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

I did a mix of shockadelica, where I took the xtended version and mixed a loop of the beat from prince's updated official b-side megamix version of shockadelica,
so you're hearing the whole song with an added rhythm layer... sounds HARD! My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

The original cammile voice arose when a recording engineer who's name escapes me (a woman i remember that) set the vocal recoring levels to high and the distortion on the recording changed his voice she was mortified but prince actully liked it they speed it up a little and that was that! I think it was during a recording session of If I Was U're Girlfreind
But I might B Wrong | |

It doesn't get mentioned here much because if u compare it to other books (Such as "DMSR"), It's not very factual nor very detailed. Nice book with nice pictures, but it bored the diehards to no end Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

The 'Camille' voice did NOT come about by accident,
(despite what you might read in various books). This popular misconception came about through a mis- interpretation of one of Susan Rogers' anecdotes about accidentally stting the recording levels too high whilst recording 'If I Was Your Girlfriend'. This has nothing to do the speeded up 'Camille' voice.

Shame on Jesse Johnson for recording a 1986 album called 'Shockadelica' (a cool title if there ever was one),but NOT coming up with a title track.

Didn't P write Shockadelica 4 Jesse Johnson when he heard that that was the title of the album and Jesse refused 2 record it? When Jesse rejected it P said 'F*$k U' and put it out himself. Then Jesse got annoyed cos it looked like he'd nicked the title from Prince. I remember reading this somewhere can anyone confirm?
