When Doves Cry, of course!! Even P's guitar solo was cooler than Edward Van Halen's. And I like Van Halen.

Both great songs. I think that When Doves Cry is more timeless in it's arrangement.
Beat It sounds dated, especially the percussion. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

You know, I really don't care for either one of these songs. And some folks have this notion that WDC is this great, innovative song and one of Prince's absolute best. Folks, he just took out the bass- that's it...
In the end, I'd choose WDC over Beat It simply because the vocal harmonies are cool in it and the synth solo towards the end is masterful. Beat It hasn't really appealed to me since the early 90s. | |

When Doves Cry any day. The song is Great and the video with that Guitar piece of Wendy's is the Bomb. I love that Video. The whole group and Prinve I just wanna Eat him up. That song is just so Emotional. | |

beat it is good, but WDC (which has just come on my stereo now scarily enough) is easily better. if you have got sick of it, just stick it on with headphones and close your eyes. remember how good it is!!! its amazing! sorry, but beat it is shit compared! but i agree its not representative of MJ in relation to WDC. billie jean might be better, but id still choose WDC | |
