Yeah, Joshy is right in a sense.
"Vegas" is when Prince calls out to the band to hold and sustain a note (until he calls it off when he pleases). Kinda gives a 'shimmery' effect to the music. Don't know how Prince came up with the word. I always thought that "Vegas" has shimmering lights, so when he calls "Vegas", it's the cue to 'shimmer' that note of the music. the term 'Vegas' used by prince, often to realise a musical conclusion, is so called and applied as such a style was a frequent and popular ending to performances by many of the famous 'Vegas acts'. You do as I say | |

thanks, i had wondered about that for years, and now i know,..
i like saying vegas, at the end of happy birthday when i sing it to family members...always gets a mixture of laughs and odd looks. . . If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it! | |
