What kind of chip is Springsteen? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Something high-end and quite worth the money... probably some of those really good organic ones damn when i saw Bruce live in Melbourne...it just felt like 3 hours of magic, inspiring, rock'n'roll! i was 70 rows from the stage but i could have been anywhere in the stadium. my dad was up in the stands & he loved it.he bought his ticket from a fan who sold a spare the morning of the show. The gig started about 7 hours after the Iraq War started... Bruce started the show with BornInTheUSA acoustic... & the WAR!What Is It Good 4? most of teh crowd sucked tho... ...wouldnt sing along. heck, when i sang my ass off & rocked out 2 "War!" .. . people were lookin' at me like i was weird. i just thought "fuck u if u cant get wild at a Bruce Springsteen concert... ...im havin fun dammit!" ah sorry...just reminicsing www.riotcitywrestling.com

The artist may be more of a factor than the art. When you treat your fans, your customers, or your colleagues with respect and some degree of gratitude, they respond in kind.
Prince could fill the same arenas as Springsteen with his current output, if only he'd lose the religious cult drivel and hire a qualified PR firm to "communicate" with his fanbase. I doubt Springsteen has to micromanage his website, and the results are obvious: http://www.brucespringsteen.net Dream on, NPGMC Members, we are devoted to an artist who despises us - therein lies the difference... One day you too might figure out there is a major difference between Sony/Columbia and NPG. But I don't hold out hope. £ [This message was edited Sun Aug 31 23:18:45 PDT 2003 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

First Off I Can't Stand Springsteen. Never Did,Never Will. Secondly Prince and him are so Different and Prince doesn't Have to sell out Stadiums and be MIDDLE AMERICA. I for one am GLAD he is More UNDERGROUND CULTISH. You Either Love Prince or you Don't! I like it that way and PRINCE I Believe Always Wanted it this Way. He is Not IMPRESSED by the SPOTLIGHT although he is Quite DESERVING of It and all the AWARDs he couldn't Really Care Much. I think it's just that he is so Freaking Cool, listen People just don't Understand or Know him. True Muffy wants her Man to be more Out There and more with the Playboy thing but Prince just Really Need or Want that Scene Anymore. But well, things have Changed Prince so Now it being 2003 it's not 83,93 and you See what is POPULAR with the Teens and FOLKS. THE Stickers on the Cds and the Language and well just the whole Vibe is HEAVY. Prince Knows and he is Still doing it his Way like way back and being Different. A True Fan will Get this about him and his Work. Each Cd Does NOT have to be Grand ,it does not have to be a Million Seller. It is where Prince is Dwelling Now and Right now it's Peaceful and Calm. I would Say he's Happy,Serene and Comfortable and it Shows in the Peace that is Represented in N.E.W.S.

thats the oddest conclusion ive seen in a while! no offense! for starters, as other people have pointed out, springsteen is middle america, white working class joe who has their interests in his mind. ie doing an album about sept 11. prince is black and very very hard to understand. that was ok when he was doing music people dug, but the very nature of his beast, that is, always doing new styles and trying not to limit himself musically etc means that a time would come when the public would not dig what he did, so his popularity would decline. now his antics certainly made him less popular. a comeback was always possible in the 80s and early 90s, as d and p shows, now it would be harder. but you cant seriously tell me sellin out a show is proof of good music. by that theory britney spears is one of the greatest artists of modern times, if ever plus is it really true more people have seen bruce on this tour than have ever seen on a tour ever? i ask cos pink floyd have done some fucking huge tours, seen by about 20 million people

So what!
Prince's the king between his fans, and it's cool Most people (no matter how cool they are) don't like Prince, and the reason is because they simply don't understand that kind of music,

I've never been a Springsteen fan - his music doesn't move me in the least - but he has managed to cultivate a loyal fan base, not alienate them. And at this advanced stage in his career, he rolled through California, selling out stadium venues like it was 1984. I watched the recent show here in SF, and it wasn't the music that moved me - it was the 30,000 supporters that showed up to hear Springsteen play (not preach).
The story with Prince is too complicated to get into yet again - just refer to a million related posts here over the past couple of years - but let's face it, it's getting harder, not easier, to be a Prince fan. Spare me the blather about wanting to live in the haze of Purple Rain, that's not what this is about. For me, it's about the giant religious and political chip that has emerged on Prince's shoulder. It diminishes my enjoyment of masterful releases like TRC, and it completely alienates countless others who might otherwise want to listen to the music. And that's one of the main reasons he's selling out Kodak Theater (I was there) - not Dodger Stadium. And there is no denying it, having a website that gives your supporters real information and access to you says a lot about how you feel about them. One click here:http://www.brucespringsteen.net and the extent of the differences between Bruce and the current Prince become painfully clear. The problem is not the music, it's the message. Bruce can sell out arenas like this cuz he doesn't disappoint his fans the way Prince does. Now, Bruce is nowhere near as talented as Prince is, but he knows how to keep the fans happy, which is a skill Prince lacks. Prince just does whatever he wants to do whatever he wants, and fuck everyone else. That's great for him, but that's why he's practically dead to the world now. The nature of art is to keep moving in whatever direction your inspiration takes you. You can't always give the fans what they want and be true to your art at the same time. Only at those special moments is it possible to do both. Those are the moments we live for-- i.e. the Purple Rain era. Having said that, yeah I wish Prince could be more like the Boss and atleast appear to be down with what the rest of us care about and quit with the weird behavior but we can't have it both ways.

I'm a firm believer in doing whatever you need to do to make yourself happy, regardless of what most people think. And Prince has definitely accomplished a hell of a lot in his life. But all his stupid antics and poor music has just made him look like an ass. I guess his mental instability is to blame. I always wonder why some people need (((other people you will never meet like what you like ???))) who cares! IF you,me,we..can get his music at Best Buy or other places..whats the problem? YOU GOT THE PRODUCT!!! IF he plays a concert near you and you got a ticket..WHY do you care how many people watch/listen to it with you??? If you can get the product whats the problem? why do you need other people's opinion to make you feel like your taste in music or entertainment is great?

Springsteen has a completely different agenda, and speaks to completely different people.
How many 'blue collars', as they say, would you see at a Prince show? Not as many as you'd see at a pro-US Boss show. Not that I have anything against the boss, but it's all contextual.
